Apart from the Continental Airlines security check for former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam, earlier this year, Irrfan Khan was detained twice in Los Angeles, and Neil Nitin Mukesh was detained because he didn't "look Indian". Were Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt to be detained in this manner, instead of getting the usual grand welcome, the brouhaha would likely be quite deafening. While post-9/11 precautions and security are likely the cause of this confusion, database verification should have been easy.

Personally, I might move away from FriendFeed if it begins to look too much like Facebook, which I found to be shallow and boring. The people I've come to know on FriendFeed are what I'd miss though, so I'd like to take my social graph with me wherever I might end up next. There's a business opportunity right there.

"I hate to hit the panic button but it seems there should be mandatory checks when people suffer from upper respiratory disorders. The death of a young child in Pune has led to a lot of finger pointing in the medical community. The horse, however, has already left the barn. A child died and if we do not take proper precautions this could become an epidemic of extraordinary proportion unseen since the time of Black Plague and the sole responsibility would lie in the hands of our government.
