"A California lawmaker has introduced a bill that would require all virtual mapping programs to blur out schools, places of worship, government or medical buildings or face hefty fines and possible jail time."

Nice sentiment (making it harder for terrorists to plan their attacks), but, as usual with politicians who don't understand technology, it's a ludicrous plan that will only block legitimate users from information widely available from sites outside of California's control.

The case against DRM crippled music just became much easier to make. Microsoft will be shutting down its servers that permit users to move their music around. In other words, people who legitimately paid for their music download from Microsoft will be screwed if they upgrade or replace their computers.
