It's been a while since I posted anything, especially anything interesting. I'm not sure if this qualifies as interesting but for those of you who are into ink, here are the latest progress shots of my dragon tattoo. It's about 99% complete now. Total time in the chair so far is about 13 hours. The artist is Jarret Clarkson.
Guess what I did on Friday.... :-D

Yup, I finally had my first sitting for my new tattoo. It's about half way there. Just have the colour and some more shading to do. It was a good weekend for me. In addition to the new tattoo, I also got to pick out my new sword and start straight sword training in Wushu this week.

My bank account took a horrible beating though :-(.

Things are going to be pretty quiet here for a while (I mean the virtual "here" not the real "here"). Renovations are taking a turn and we're actually starting to build something rather than doing demolition. Work is going to be crazy seeing as the company I work for was just bought out, that's always an interesting ride. To top it all off, a friend forced the first 2 seasons of Battlestar Galactica on me so I have a lot of Sci Fi to watch. All of this leaves little time for stumbling but I'll try to at least respond to messages in the next day or two.

This Saturday I'm heading off into the wilderness... well... as close to it as I've ever come. I'm taking a trip up to Kingsmere lake with 3 friends (yes, I have seen Deliverance but I don't make any animal noises and I have a very ugly mouth so I'm not at all concerned). It'll be at least 3 days with no cell phone, no TV and no Internet. Hell, I don't even think the camp sites have outhouses.

Anyway, if you're interested. Here's a Google Maps markup of planned points on the canoe/hiking route.

So through a series of terribly unfortunate events I found myself standing in my kitchen this afternoon with my hands on my chin which was merrily dripping blood everywhere. Yeah, I know, great visual... I have pictures.

Anyway, I figured I should probably go get some stitches. I gotta say, people fucking suck. I'm sitting there for a couple of hours and I saw a shit load of drunks and people with issues resulting from illegal drug use. These bastards are bitching about the wait to see a doctor while people are being wheeled in from car accidents, kids with broken bones, an old man with a leg that's all ripped up from the knee down.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I talked with the triage nurse and said, "You know, this cut on my chin is really minor, you guys are obviously swamped with people who need help much more than I do. Do you think it would be OK for me to go home and take care of this myself?" She said, "Well if you don't get stitches, it's going to leave a scar." I said, "Do you think there's any chance that I'll die or be permanently disabled in some way?" "Very unlikely.", she said.

That was good enough for me, so off I went. To all you dumb fucks that decided to over indulge and you felt that you should go to the hospital and add to the workload of the doctors and nurses who are trying desperately to help people who are actually injured, you're all just a fuckin' waste of skin.

I've had a lot of comments lately about my wife. Specifically, I've had a number of people comment on how well we get along and one person even asked if we were newlyweds. That made me chuckle a bit.

We've been married for almost 13 years and I'm well aware of how sickeningly in love we are. A lot of my friends are going through separations or divorce or have already been divorced and they don't understand how we can be so happy together and so much in love after being together for so long. I'm not so arrogant to think that I have the answers to marital bliss but I do know this much, I don't ever want my wife to be anything but herself and I enjoy everything about who she is. The odd thing is, that even the things about her that I may not like so much contribute to how much I love her. She's never boring, she challenges me, she inspires me, she makes me happy, angry, sad (but mostly happy).

With her, I experience life. I dig in with both hands and take big bites of every day. Maybe it's too complex to explain. All I can say is, I'm so glad that we don't have a typical marriage and I'm so glad that I've made the choices I've made. I'm especially glad that she puts up with my shit and keeps me around ;-).

Honey, I know there's no particular occasion, just wanted to let you know that you're freakin' awesome! :-D

I just found out that they cancelled The 4400!!!

I don't watch a lot of TV but this is one series that I looked forward to watching during the summer months. They didn't even film a series finale :-(.

Well the belt testing is finished and I did advance (actually even got invited to participate in the advanced classes this summer Whoo Hooo!). The filming is finished for Crime Stories so it's back to the grind for me. Being an extra on a TV show has really opened my eyes. There is nothing glamorous about the entertainment business as far as I can see. It's really just loosely organized chaos, tricks and silliness. I think I should have been an actor :-D.

Seriously though, I have a whole new appreciation for people that work in this industry. It's very fast paced and people need to think on their feet. It seems that everyone on the crew has to have some level of creativity and they have to pay attention to the tiniest details. Having to do simple facial expressions to convey something was a lot more difficult than it sounds. I can see how filming for 10 or 12 hours could be very exhausting.

It was a cool experience and I'd probably do it again just for kicks but I would never do it for a living even if I could act.

Today is Wushu belt testing ("belt" shouldn't be taken literally as there are really no belts in Wushu). If all goes well today, I will be moving into the advanced class over the summer and starting my straight sword training (Whooo Hooo!!!!).

In other news, I have been cast as a detective for an episode of A&E's Crime Stories. I shoot my scenes next week. This should be interesting because I'm not an actor but I thought it would be a cool experience anyway :-D.
