Ice cream truck made a visit to the office today. I had a frozen receese on a stick. It was so nice out today.

I took like 3 walks around the land of where my office is at. There is a stream running through the property by through the brush and it was really relaxing to take some break in the office action to do that.

On Traffic Lights and Luck thereof

Over the last week, I have thought yet again concerning the topic of "luck". Today I thought I would post about my traffic light experiences.

On my way to work, there are 7 traffic lights. On the way back I hit 6. I wanted to see how many I had to stop at and how many I got through, just for fun.

On the way to work this week (leaving home at different times), I didn't have a day below needing to stop at least 5 times. Often, I was stopped at 6 of 7 traffic lights. It was the same average on the way back home from work, also leaving at different times, give or take a few minutes.

So it got me thinking. Is this the same for EVERYONE? I mean, can it be, really? Are there people out there that have the exact opposite result.... "luck". Do others get stopped by one red light or 2 red lights and just think they are having an unlucky day?

Then that got me thinking about how interesting it would be to do a scientific test on this. The test could be done with say, 1000 drivers. With todays GPS systems, it would be easy to record the stop and go at specific checkpoints that people drive through (traffic lights) on any particular day.

Somehow find people that have always considered themselves to be "very lucky" in general and very unlucky as well to be participants. Or, it could be just anybody for this test to show some results.

Afterword, I'd like to compare it to other past events in the participants lives such as, income, past financial issues, being born into money, always having enough or more than they ever needed verses the opposite.

As I was stopped at these intersections during the week, I was looking around at the people next to me. I began to think, maybe these are the people who have the same sort of life luck experiences that I have had. The feelings of always being a day late, dollar short, wondering if just a second earlier, would things have been different?

With all that said, I could be completely wrong. Maybe everybody gets stopped by 80-90% of traffic lights on a regular basis as apposed to even 10-20% of the time.

I know EVERYONE complains about it, but, how many people are really experiencing this sort of luck verses those that just THINK they are.

If anyone cares, or wants to try it for a week or a few days, please let me know the results. I'd love to hear the outcome!

Pearls of Wisdom

"Fourteen Things That It Took Me Over

50 Years To Learn" by Dave Barry

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings."

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.

You should not confuse your career with your life.

Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

Never lick a steak knife.

The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.

There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.

The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above-average drivers.

A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.)

Your friends love you anyway.

Thought for the day: Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.

I didn't do too much this weekend. Finally got my car started (battery was dead). It rained off and on and was like a jungle outside.

I feel like I didn't get anything accomplished over the weekend. Not like I really need to do anything important I guess. I feel like i am turning into a workaholic sometimes.

I need to get to work on some music or art. I haven't felt very inspired lately to do music, art, writing or anything. I feel drained much of the time and have been getting a bit depressed again lately. And I cannot put my finger on any reasons of why I would be depressed.

My cat is in heat and she is really annoying me.

If anyone is bored, check out my site MangledCarpenter.com if you like Death Metal music. We have our demo online now. Anyone can listen for free or even purchase the digital demo for like 6 bucks.

Anyone out there have a MySpace (yeah that was a joke)? Add me HERE

My insomnia has become bad again. I can take tylenol PM, but then I sleep like 10 hours and am tired during the day. I don't know why my mind can't shut down at night. Night is when I have always been motivated and many of my creative ideas and thoughts bloom during late night hours.

Well, I should try to sleep...have work tomorrow.

First post. Of course I am feeling bored for some reason. I've been kind of sick lately. Both mentally and physically. Perhaps I am a bit drained from watching Psycho II and Psycho III earlier. Gotta love that damn Norman and his crazy mother. I love how she says "little slut" and "dirty whore" all the time. Cracks me up to think about it.
