The other day I stepped out for my morning cigarette. It was just barely forty degrees and, upon stepping into my shed, I saw a grey blur darting in a going-to-hide-manner. I thought, initially, it was some sort of flying squirrel or something. It was small, quick and obviously paranoid. It was a kitten. I picked it up. I showed it to the wife. We felt bad for it. It was about the age where . . . well, it should still be sucking on its mothers tit--but it can walk. I guess it walked here? Anyway, it had a cold. Sneezing. Gunky eyes. That stuff. It's living in my house now. She's really sweet. Ha. Man. More life in my house. All this life . . . Ah!

I updated Warefree Find & Replace to version 1.1.0 today. It now more effectively supports searches on html and php code. It used to choke on certain unclosed tags -- and the solution wasn't as simple as it seemed it ought to be.

I also updated the css so that text, even pre-formatted, will be forced to wrap at the window border. And with that in place, set "Display results preformated" to on by default.

Pretty much takes care of all the bugs that were really bothering me.

When building the installer for the chat, I have to do escape a good portion of the code so it can be written to files on-installation. This cleanup process is usually fairly time consuming and a real pain in the ass. I decided to take WFFR for a run, since it's now supposed to work on php code . . . I ran it over the sourcecode for my chat. I just plugged in the find/replace routines I have to use for pre-installer cleanup and saved them to bookmarks. Then, using those bookmarks, ran the routines on each file.

The whole thing went without a mishap, and took notably less time than usual. I'm happy.

I finally got around to converting the "Is Poem" project so that it reads/writes from an actual database. It performs fast/efficiently, now.

I didn't do it in the first place because I was in a hurry to get turn the idea into function and couldn't wait the 1-2 hours for the database to be initialized on the server. Admittedly, I didn't think it would get as big as it has, either. It was linked to by http://www.chaoskitty.com/webzen/archive.php?choice=36.03.04 though, and jumped in size. If anyone has perused it over the last week or so, it was really, really slow.

It's all good now, though . . . I think.
