multitouch on desktop is pretty pointless. It would get in the way of the keyboard, or if it acts as a keyboard, there would be no feedback.

Linear window managers, such as con10uum, don't look that appealing. A tiling window manager with frames/tags and groups/workspaces such as ion3, ratpoinson, musca, xmonad, dwm, wmii, along with a host of others, are far more efficient.
