UPDATE: It's over! I finally named my guitar. I called it Akantha, which is Greek for "thorn". Given its shape, I think it suits it.

I reviewed all of you just to get a point across: using SU only to promote your page is a violation of the TOS. It doesn't matter what that jackass tranboy tells you: thumbing up or discovering other stuff just to make your stumble account look legit is still against the rules. There's lots of people fed up with such behavior, and since SU uses the community itself as a regulatory method you're in for trouble if you behave obnoxiously.

I normally just report people as spammers and block them in situations like this, but I understand you could have not known. Misleading blog posts like that one are partly to blame, so I let it slip this time. From now on, I beg you: PLEASE give a quick read to the terms of service and help page of any service or program you use and save you (and us) the hazzle.

I just realized I loathe older people that try to be "hip" and "cool" by overusing internet slang and memes. Just don't. It's as ridiculous as older people trying to be hip and cool by constantly talking like youngsters. Just act your age.

I'm taking a break that could possibly lead to an account deletion. I haven't decided yet. So my account will stay but I'll delete the bar.

Reasons?
1) Stumbles are seriously getting worse each passing day. My thumbs down ratio has reached new lows.
2) SU is way too full of spammers and social networkers. If I haven't even talked to you, I don't want to be your friend. I won't give your pages undeserved publicity. Fuck off.
3) It seems to be trendy to leave SU these days. I wanna see why.
4) I've found enough good sites among the trash to get my entertainment using only my RSS feed reader.

So this is it. Thanks to all the great people I've met and befriended here, I'll keep in touch if I can. Anyone interested in chatting or something PM me. The rest of you can go hug a cactus for all I care.

So long, and thanks for all the fish! And FUCK ALL YOU SPAMMERS AND DRAMA QUEENS THAT RUINED THIS PLACE.

That's it. I'm currently planning how to create a system to control my media center using voice. By "media center", I mean:

* LCD television
* XBOX 360
* TV receiver
* Dolby digital decoder + surround speaker set

What I want is to issue a command by voice and have the parts of the media center do stuff on their own. Like, turn each part on and off independently, switch channels, switch TV inputs and such. All that will be done by infrared LEDs, and possibly a relay managing a power surge, connected to a computer.

Voice recognition is the easiest part, I think I'm gonna use .NET FW 3.5's voice recognition modules. An old laptop will serve as the manager. I'll buy something old and cheap, broken screen is OK, not much is needed to do the job. The part I'm having problems with is the actual management of the LEDs and relays. What should I use? I'd really appreciate suggestions.

IT'S TIME FOR THE BRIGHTLY COLORED, ATTENTION GRABBING HEADER! YAY! READ THIS BEFORE GOING ON YOUR WAY.

Since I've been receiving some comments about my bad disposition and the disclaimer I previously had in my description, I'll leave this as a sticky just so you guys understand my point better and I don't have to repeat myself.

Normally, I am rather kind to other people. I appreciate people who want to discuss stuff in a civilized manner and love a nice chat. But SU's getting worse by the minute, filled with spam and a subpar user base (which wasn't the case not too long ago). I'll ignore, maybe thumb down, or even report and block whoever:

Promotes his own site or product shamelessly or by illegal means such as bots or exchanges (see SU's Terms Of Service, it's clearly stated there).

Befriends people en masse, because I take the word "friend" kind of seriously. Friend requests coming from people I haven't had any contact with, be it message exchanges or mutual subscription, will be rejected immediately. Any friend request will be thought about for a long time. I'll be checking your site often to see what kind of user you are. Sending messages urging me to accept your friend request is not recommended.

Sends "thank you for visiting" messages. I stumbled upon your page, I didn't get there on purpose, no need to thank me. If what you want is to strike conversation, read my blog and see what I like to talk about. Easy!

Fills his blog with glitter gifs. Go waste bandwidth somewhere else. Also OH GOD MY EYES WHY?

Just quotes pages and doesn't write REAL comments. It's a good indicator of you being a spammer. Comments are supposed to generate dialogue and interaction, not repeating what we already read.

Feels the need to impose his religious point of view, be it theist or atheist. Having a different perspective doesn't give you the right to be disrespectful or totally obnoxious toward other people. Respect differences.

Submits stuff to StumbleUpon under the wrong categories. Yeah, it is that important. Do you know how much stuff about paganism or Ireland tourism do I find under "Celtic Music"? Or how many pseudoscience stuff I get under "Science/Tech"? Let's not even talk about the random crap I get under every single category available. I'll thumb down every single person who has this awful habit. DON'T-DO-IT.

Hopefully this is clear enough for most people, but just in case you don't: my patience has a hair trigger. Now enjoy the rest of my blog (or whatever, I thumb stuff up so rarely now...).

"Please don't write me back I am tired of having this debate with people. I am sure you are ready to go and have a big back and forth about it, and you are probably going to claim that I am a "coward" because I don't want to debate this with you any further, but I am tired of it, this same debate over and over with different people. I have it all of the time with many other people, and I always win. Because the fact is- regardless of Ingrid Newkirk's methods and how you feel bout them, the way the human race treats animals for food, entertainment, clothing, transportation, emotional support (companion animals) is morally and ethically WRONG. REGARDLESS of whether we are BUILT to eat meat or not, or any other stupid argument one can bring up we need to change our ways. Honestly. practice what you preach: "Having a different perspective doesn't give you the right to be disrespectful or totally obnoxious toward other people. Respect differences." I like Ingrid Newkirk, you don't. I don't really give a flying fuck. And I honestly don't know why you do???

PS----Thanks for posting my comment on your blog, I am glad to see I have affected your life so incredibly much! You are a pretty passionate PETA hater, you should start a website or something.

I hope you post this up, as well! It's not my best writing, it's probably in the wrong order, and I am not going to proof read it, because I am up far past my bed time and I am tired beyond beyondness, but maybe you and your little PETA hating friends can have a good laugh, eh?

Good night and have a nice life checking back on comments and reviews you've left because you have nothing else to do haha. (Oh, stop acting like a regulator of SU, you're not.)"

I actually posted my message because I thought you wouldn't answer and I wanted to talk about all this stuff with someone. Well, you didn't disappoint me there. Nope, I don't think you're a coward, although I'd have liked to continue arguing this. Anyway, let me just say that you're missing lots of points about the issue, you oversimplify the implications both of the actions of PeTA and of the issues it unsuccessfully tries to solve. It's a common mistake, but I don't feel like pointing them out if I'm not gonna get a reply. BTW, I will use my account however and all the time I want to, thanks for your concern.

So, I got an answer! That user also asked me to put it in my page, and so I will.

"Yes, in my personal opinion, she has made a bigger difference in this pathetic world than any of those people.

People don't understand the extend of suffering that animals go through until they are faced with these extremist ways. I met a woman the other day who was under the impression that animal testing was "cute" because "they put make up on bunnies."

I think you need to look up the definition of propaganda, by the way.

And obviously you are not all for the improvement of treatment of animals, otherwise you would not be wasting so much time and energy bad mouthing Ingrid (whose methods are working, BTW- go to PETA and read their success stories.) and you'd be out there being active yourself?

Maybe Ingrid and PETA are extremist, but the fact is that we are all working towards the same goal, so stop whining and complaining.

And about re-thinking my position on animal testing: We are nothing like animals, first of all. So animal testing is silly: "this drug works GREAT on these mice! lets put it on the shelves!!" hahah RIGHT. Secondly, I personally believe every life is equal. What makes my life or your life more important than that of a mouse? Is it because you have have a house? you are bigger? You can speak language recognized by your own kind??? You are more intelligent? if the intelligence thing is your argument, does that make it ok to test on infants? Handicapped people? No, it doesn't. So what IS IT that makes our lives, our health, our happiness more important than that of different species?? hmm? I always think all these "pro-life" people are so funny. They can't handle a baby who hasn't even developed sentience yet being aborted- but then they go home and eat their tortured meat and drink their hormone ridden milk. ugh.

Lastly, the "inhumane" conditions that people live in in third world countries are sad an everything, but it does not even come CLOSE to being comparable to what animals who die for you go through every second of the day. (I know HOW DARE I think that what happens to animals in factory farms is worse than what happens to HUMANS in third world countries!! Oh myyy!1 I must be a psychopath!......... really put it into perspective: you are starving, you are poor, you are uncomfortable, maybe you have a disease?. OR You cannot turn around, or lay down for your whole life, your living conditions are so bad that they pump you full of antibiotics just to keep you alive, workers in the slaughter house torture you and your friends for fun while you await your turn, when it comes time to be slaughtered you are hung upside down by one leg which breaks and most of your joints separate, your neck is slashed but you are not quite dead and then your are thrown into boiling water where you are scalded to death (mind you, the workers in interviews say that they are not sure if they boil to death first or if the drown, or if they die of blood loss. hmmm) I personally, would chose option 1. What about you? (by the way it is not uncommon for workers to torture the animals, which I am sure you already know. A study was done which showed that 85% of ALL slaughterhouse workers in USA have regularly tortured or watched someone else torture and animal, and this study was NOT done by PETA)

Please don't tell me who my idols should be- my idol is Ingrid Newkirk, who has dedicated her life to helping animals and is ACTUALLY doing something about it, and IS getting her points across through her extremism, because humans are so ignorant and selfish and egotistical that it is the only way to get people's attention. You think they would have as many success stories if they were going around "please, sir, please stop eating meat"
"fur is mean" ....etc. etc. they would not.

So, if you don't like Ingrid Newkirk, you should stop stalking her and being pointless."

Continued in next post.

Some time ago I reviewed the account of someone who claims to be PeTA chairwoman Ingrid Newkirk. Some of you may know that I tend to check on my older stumbles for interesting comments and answers and I change my reviews accordingly. I wasn't disappointed, this new review appeared two days ago:

"Ingrid Newkirk has to be one of the most amazing people ever to grace the earth. She has made more difference in this world than ANYONE ever has. (and more than you ever will, Bozzzzzz) Ingrid Newkirk is one of my heroes and someone I look up to and am thankful for every day."

Now, I know it's sort of a cheap shot, but I really felt like totally exposing the holes in it. That, and bashing PeTA always brings a smile to my face. The poster hasn't replied yet, and I don't feel like I'm violating any rule since I could have just edited my review. So, here is my answer:

"I just read your review of IngridNewkirk. And I laughed. Your point of view is so naïve. Newkirk, make a difference? Her?

Has she made any more difference than all the active ecologists that actually go and do their best to study and save wildlife? No, she just sits there and poses for the photos and talks loud. She is also a hypocrite, since here diabetes medicine was tested in animals and she hasn't stopped using it.

Has she made more difference than Alexander Fleming, whose discovery of penicillin has saved who knows how many lives ever since? Or than any other scientist that does/did his best every day to cure sickness, from common flu to cancer? "But they test it on animals!" You might say. So what? The sacrifice of one animal may save millions of human lives. When you give more importance to the life of one animal than to the lives of so many people, maybe is it time to rethink your position?

Has she made more difference than, say, the organizations that fight every day against the inhuman living conditions of third world countries? I'm sure you have seen some pictures that show just how fucked up the situation is right there. Famine, pest, disease, poverty. I won't elaborate further.

Has she made more difference than less extremist organizations that fight to improve the living conditions of abandoned/stray pets? HELL NO! PeTA killed animals that could have been adopted and then dropped them in the trash. PeTA uses ridiculous propaganda to try to "make public conscience" about animal issues. "YOUR MOM KILLS ANIMALS!"? "Sea kittens"? They're totally ridiculous. In fact, all that propaganda hasn't changed a thing: if any controversy has been created at all, it's all around the methods of PeTA itself. Just search around in the Internet. Hell, go to the PeTA main sites and check the SU reviews. So much bad feedback... must be for a reason, right? Oh, let's not even talk about how their celebrity propaganda has turned out. How many of them have been seen walking around dressed in leather?

I'm all for improving the treatment of animals, preventing the extinction of endangered species and all that. But PeTA and Newkirk are just a bunch of extremist misguided clowns. You need to get better idols."

I have no further comments, but I'd appreciate some reactions.
