I am in the middle of writing this C++ program (and this post!). I posted it here so that people from the C Programming group could take a look.

This program approximates the amount of words, sentences, and syllables that an English passage contains. Then it applies two simple formulas called the Flesch-Kincaid Reading and Grade Level formulas to determine what level of education would be required to comprehend that passage.

The equation for the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level is this:

This program approximates the amount of words by counting up the spaces and then adding one. It then counts the amount of periods, exclamation marks, and question marks to approximate the amount of sentences. Syllables are approximated by summing the amount of vowels. Vowel digraphs (e.x. 'ee' as in 'employee') are tracked like this: take the word 'employee' it has four vowels and four consonants but only three syllables. The program checks each letter and determines whether or not that letter is a vowel or consonant and then it sets aside a 'v' or a 'c'. So, employee would look like this: v c c c v c v v. Any occurances of 'v v' are possible vowel digraphs and so one vowel can be ignored when approximating the amount of syllables. It's a very unsophisticated method.

Hello folks!
I have upgraded to PCBSD http://www.pcbsd.org I am now stumbling from PCBSD.
Looking for a windblows alternative?
I am running PCBSD on a computer with 380MB of memory, a 650MHz processor and an ancient video card with 16MB of memory!
So far I am having no troubles!
