By all means send them if you think we should be friends. However, at least send me a courtesy 'hello' when you do. I am not asking much. I would just like to know that you are a human being and not just some friend-all bot. If you just send me a friend request out of the blue without any interaction whatsoever, you might as well not bother. I will decline it.

I am sure other people than me have noticed that whatever you write in the "My Preferences" section might show up slightly different in your SU-profile. I assume this is SU's attempt at making sure that there are as few duplicates caused by alternate spellings as possible and as such it is a good thing. However, it has bugged me a bit in the past that I - for instance - have to be stuck with ALBERT CAMUS written all in caps because some brainless cretin must have written it like a four year-old some time in the past.

The last straw of absurdity caused by this otherwise clever invention was that when I wanted to add the NBC TV-series Life to its appropriate section, it showed up as "Life ;-)" because some other person thought he was clever.

I do not think it too far a stretch to assume that this person and I are talking about two entirely different things. Whereas I am speaking of an actual TV-series about a Zen-detective who was wrongfully accused, this person is presumably attempting to make the tongue-in-cheek statement that he is by far more interested in breathing mountain-air (or whatnot) than turning his brain to mush by staring at a rectangular gadget. Whilst I do agree partly with that admirable sentiment, I find the method of conveying it rather lolcattish (in lack of a better word) and I would still like to be able to list Life - the TV-series - as one of my entertainment-sources all the same - regardless of how inferior it is to actual living. (As compared to what? It is not as if you can turn life off and experience that for comparison.)

Therefore I have opted to write "Life (NBC)" on the list but it is a shame that SU does not have an option, which lets you forcefully disambiguate their automatic editions to avoid duplicity.

Just my two cents'

Sketch

I wish there existed some sort of theoretical game theory for collectible card games. It is nigh impossible to find anything on the subject online. Am I just asking too much of the magical land called the internet in expecting it to cater to my uber-geekery? I think it would be a fascinating subject if someone were to combine some thoughts on say prisoner's dilemma and how this would apply to a liquid component zero-sum game such as your average TCG or CCG. What I like about them is that they are a unique type of game, which places more emphasis on individuality and personal customisation by the participants in that they are free to choose which cards to play with. (Of course from an already existing pool of cards with new ones usually being made on a regular basis and in the case of Yu-Gi-Oh! overpowered ones being banned.) As such it makes me wonder why no game-theoretical analyst has made a dissertation of their mechanics. However, what I dislike about TCG's and CCG's is that you actually have to collect those bloody cards whereas I just want to play and make tactics without such bothersome constrains. It also makes the game less available to new-comers. This leads me to wonder if it would not be possible to generalise some sort of rules for participants to create their own cards somehow. Perhaps as a natural part of the game-play. I suppose it would limit the effects cards could possibly have but then again complexity can arise from a simple set of rules. If the card-creation rules were just right the possibilities could be endless but the rules would still have to ensure that you could not create over-powered cards without some sort of appropriate penalty. Well, I think it is a brilliant idea and to my knowledge it has yet to be tried.

If you are reading this and have absolutely no idea what in Hades I am babbling about, nevermind me. For all you know and care I might as well be bat-turd insane. Nothing to see here. Move along.

(Just had to write these thoughts down somewhere before I forgot them again.)

Ok, by now I am sure you people have seen the "I am Legend" trailers. Stop calling it a zombie-film, already! They're vampires. At least in the book they are. I don't know how faithful the film is but they are supposed to be more intelligent than zombies. If I spoiled it for anyone now boo-hoo.

Post edit: Wikipedia says they changed the infected in the film version of "I am Legend" to be flesh-eating and hyperventilating adrenal-junkies or somesuch and they're calling them "dark seekers." So I guess they've sort of zombified them. I would still argue that the movie loses nearly all of its meaning in contrast with the novel if they do not allow "The Seekers" more advanced thought-processes than "braaains" though and therefore I do think that they're not entirely zombies. Too bad they gave up on the whole vampirism concept though. The book had some compelling ideas about it on a purely scientific level.

Oh, well. A small point to proponents of the zombie-theory I guess.

I just did a Wikipedia-search in order to finally find out what exactly "FTW" stands for.

I did find out but now I am unsure if not knowing detracts more from my geekiness than the method and desire to find out adds to it.

I should devise a mathematical formula to put an end to this conundrum. I am in such an identity crisis right now.

What would The Doctor do?

That does me no good either. He'd probably just point his Sonic Screwdriver at it to science-magic it away.

While eating some eggrolls I realised that eggrolls are really just an excuse for drinking soy sauce. We should have soyshops.

"How would you like your soy, sir? With one or two pieces of eggroll?"
"No, thanks. I like my soy the same way I like my humour; black and struggling to stay alive."

Some days I seem to favour one particular word. Today it seems to be "privilege" and I have no idea why. It is riddled throughout all of my recent reviews. I hope I will stop using it soon.
