The music's over at Shea Stadium, where the "Piano Man, Billy Joel just finished his second of two sold-out shows that will be the final concerts ever at the NY Mets ballpark in Flushing Meadows Park, Queens, NY USA. The shows, billed as "Last Play at Shea," featured a grand total of 68 songs and eight special guests.

As we predicted here at MNN, Paul McCartney (unfortunately no Ringo though) helped out by singing and playing guitar on The Beatles' classic I Saw Her Standing There with the Piano Man and his backing band before being brough back to the stage for a duet on the final song ever to be played at the venue, Let It Be. McCartney wasn't the only rocker to join Mr Joel on stage. Roger Daltrey of the Who, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, the legendary Tony Bennettand Garth Brooks came up to play a few songs. Congratulations Long Island, New Yorker Billy Joel, you gave Shea Stadium the a fitting farewell concert, more than any fan could have asked for. The entire event was filmed, so expect the dvd soon !

The Canadian pop/rock music group, Barenaked Ladies have canceled their "Disney" gig next month because of lead singer Steven Page's arrest in New York State last week. Mr Page was charged with possessing cocaine. He's pleaded not guilty, the band said. Best known for hits such as One Week and Pinch Me, the BNL was due to play the Disney Music Block Party on Long Island, NY USA in late August.

On the group's website their manager Terry McBride said they did not want to put the Disney company in an "awkward position". He said: "Members of the band completely support Steven Page. "But we don't want to put Disney in an awkward position before issues involving Steven's arrest are resolved." An earlier statement posted on their site said: "Steven has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and the validity of the charges against Steven will be strongly contested." The band says they plan to continue performing elsewhere and would begin to work on a new album later this year. Previously known for its clean image and cross-generational appeal, the group recently released a new album for children !! Called Snacktime, it's a collection of original children's songs. You can buy a copy of the cd from MNN, HERE.

The band was formed nearly 20 years ago in Toronto, CN. It has released 12 albums, producing such hits as "If I Had $1,000,000," "Brian Wilson" and "Too Little, Too Late." The group is known for its whimsical lyrics and comedic banter on stage

Rockers RUSH to Appear on the Colbert Report
RUSH will be appearing on "The Colbert Report," and no, not the cigar chomping Limbaugh. The Canadian rock band Rush will perform their music and the classic song "Tom Sawyer" on the Comedy Central network Wednesday evening (July 16, 11:30 p.m. ET). The Geddy Lee led rock trio, which is currently on tour (this week - July 17, Hershey, PA, July 19, Washington, DC, July 20, Charlotte, NC), hasn't played on a U.S. television program since 1975! Other upcoming musical performances on the Colbert Report, include, the rapper Nas on July 23, country music star Toby Keith returns for his second performance on July 28 and Crosby, Stills & Nash will appear July 30. The Stephen Colbert-hosted comedy show was originally launched as a parody of conservative political pundit shows; but shows like "The O'Reilly Factor" do not make a habit of hosting music performances. Fortunately the "Colbert" program has expanded into the music arena, often with its sonorous host joining in. John Legend, Neil Young, R.E.M., Tony Bennett, Peter Frampton, Willie Nelson, Barry Manilow, John Mellencamp, the Roots and Carole King have all performed on the show.

Colbert's enthusiasm for the music has been easily apparent. Previously, he has sung "The Star-Spangled Banner" (in two-part harmony) with Legend, and made fun of the MTV-style band interview by questioning R.E.M. from a stool twice the size of the stools the band members sat on.

Make sure to tune in tonight !!!

NICKELBACK SIGNS UP WITH LIVE NATION
The Canadian rock band, NICKELBACK have just signed a international recording, merchandising and touring deal with US concert promoter Live Nation. The three-album, three-tour deal is said to be worth between $50M and $70M, according to reports. Live Nation announced the contract on Tuesday but did not give financial details.

The Nickelback deal is the latest in a string of high profile, multifaceted deals that the Los Angeles-based Live Nation has signed with major artists including Madonna, Jay-Z, U2 and Shakira. Nickelback, whose hits include Rock Star and Photograph, have sold more than 26 million albums to date, their most recent album sold 10 million copies. Their latest tour of North America and Australia did well, grossing more than $67 million. The group, fronted by Chad Kroeger, still have two albums to release through their present label Road Runner Records before they can record any albums for Live Nation. Nickelback's signing marks the second artist, to sigh up with Live Nation since the recent departure of CEO Michael Cohl, who stepped down after a disagreement over the direction the concert giant should take
