I haven't been on SU much lately, I've had a cosmic bulls-eye firmly planted on me the last few weeks. First off, my home was broken into and robbed (still waiting for the insurance company to pay off, because they're still waiting for the report from the Police, but they're back-logged for 30 days!) Unbelievable! I had just bought a new Dell PC, only 2 days old when I was robbed, but it wasn't stolen. Well it turned out to be a lemon, spent 2 solid weeks with Dell's Senior Lead Tech, being assisted by their Senior Engineering Dept. They never could figure out what the problem was, but to Dell's credit they sent another PC and upgraded some of the components.
A water pipe busted and most of my place was pretty well soaked. Some new carpet, several large industrial fans and plenty of moldicide spray(not sure if that's even a word) and you can hardly tell what happened. My car was towed(from a legally parked spot, mind you) and somehow the tow truck driver either dropped/dragged it and broke the mounts holding up my exhaust system. They finally agreed to pay for the damage but still haven't seen any money, looks like I need to take the next step with those SOB's.
I went to Las Vegas for a quick 2 day getaway (I booked it before any of this started) and missed my return flight. I got to the gate 10 minutes before takeoff but the plane was already pulling away from the gate. The plane left early! I've never even heard of such a thing, to make matters worse, once we got on the next flight the Captain announced we were delayed while we waited for some other passengers. Finally after 20 minutes the couple we were waiting on show up, carrying pizza and drinks. They stopped for lunch while a 100 or so people waited for them.
On top of this work has been insanely busy and dealing with all this has been time-consuming. I'm hoping things get back to normal while I still have a little sanity left.
