Apparently, the IRS doesn&#039;t have a law regarding how to claim income on circulating gold and silver coins (I didn&#039;t even know there were gold coins in circulation! Though I have seen the occasional silver dime show up). It seems you can report the income based on the face value of the valuable coins, even though their collector&#039;s value could be much higher. The Government lost 160 verdicts.<br />
