Capitalism as an unfettered market fundamentalist dogma is just one of the problems. I see great benefit in a market economy if it can have other principals other than profit. Chomsky sees the problems we face as a systemic problem. Government dos not have to control the media if the editors and owners see it as there own interest to propagandize the public. . If all the news media belongs to 5 separate conglomerates that also own other industries such as the pharmaceuticals, pharmacology, oil, and the weapons then it is in their interest to support the government when it gos to war or bails out those industrys (or banks). I don't believe in anarchy for the rich or the poor. Partly that is why I still vote even though the election is likely to be ringed. It is a lack of the citizenry involvement or understanding of their own government that has allowed this fascist anarchy of the rich to form.

"Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." -- Hermann Goering

"No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots."

"The danger of ancient liberty was that men, exclusively concerned with securing their share of social power, might attach too little value to individual rights and enjoyments. The danger of modern liberty is that, absorbed in the enjoyment of our private independence, and in the pursuit of our particular interests, we should surrender our right to share in political power too easily. The holders of authority are only too anxious to encourage us to do so. They are so ready to spare us all sort of troubles, except those of obeying and paying! They will say to us: what, in the end, is the aim of your efforts, the motive of your labours, the object of all your hopes? Is it not happiness? Well, leave this happiness to us and we shall give it to you. No, Sirs, we must not leave it to them. No matter how touching such a tender commitment may be, let us ask the authorities to keep within their limits. Let them confine themselves to being just. We shall assume the responsibility of being happy for ourselves."
- Benjamin Constant

Learning is not childs play; we cannot learn without pain
- Aristotle, 3BCE

We would like to believe that we are not in the business of surviving but in being good, and we do not like to admit to ourselves that we are good in order to survive.

George Bush Snr did say this: To occupy Iraq would instantly shatter our coalition, turning the whole Arab world against us and make a broken tyrant into a latter-day hero ... assigning young soldiers to a fruitless hunt for a securely entrenched dictator and condemning them to fight in what would be an un-winnable urban guerilla war. It could only plunge that part of the world into even greater instability.
Finding accurate information

The pseudo-conservative ditto-heads and the Flying Monkey Right seem to think that reporting the facts are partisan because the facts contradict what they believe to be true. If you value truth you will look up the references and find the original sources instead of blindly trusting a talking head or bog for news. You can then determine who to trust for your information by their track record for reliable information. <<
>> Don't look at Factcheck if you are afraid of the truth. Politicians are lairs and hallways have been. It is a popularity contest where the politician that best tells the majority what they want to hear and then take money to do the opposite wins. Don't get me wrong, I am not a total cynic, there are good people who aspire to do great things in politics but, they rarely are voted into office. <<
>> I find it quite sad when people allow others to do their thinking and see facts as propaganda and lies as truth do to fear or because it dos not fit their small minded views. If giving head is sex then war is not peace. <<
>> No mater what political party you are affiliated with to fallow with blind faith is the road to HELL. Politicians who report to talk with God and use faith to stop people from reasoning are the most dangerous except for the people who are the followers. <<
>> Factcheck serves to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics by monitoring the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political players. <<
>> Non-partisan means not expressing your bias in judgment, not supporting... <<
