Why do utility companies and banks punish people with no money by charging ridiculous "late fees" and "processing fees" that are far past any amount it would have actually cost the company to "process" whatever they're docking you for?

Regional slang always has interested me. This page will be welcome by any American who finds British comedy flicks a mite difficult to understand, what with the heavy accents AND the funky slang...Especially when it's the Cockney-type slang, which is absolutely befuddling to someone who hasn't been hearing it and speaking it for years.

I have been collecting toy rubber snakes since 1993, and collected them far before that, too, as a child (but lost the earlier Big Serpentarium Ruck Sack in that stupid fire in Berkeley that took all my childhood things from me in '83. My current Serpentarium has 268 snakes, from teensy ones a half-foot long to a 6 foot VERY realistic diamondback painted with authentic scale colours and cast from a real snake, obviouly. This Python obviously was not, but there's nothing like it in my bah resemnbling it yet. I'd get it but it's too goddamn expensive. Poo.
