My computer keeps crashing and several of the buttons on my SU toolbar aren't working, like the stumble button. I upgraded to a new version of Firefox and maybe that's part of the problem with the toolbar. But the crashes are just my lemon of a computer. I think it's time to just admit I need to fork out the money for a new one. And then I'll still need to figure out why my stumble button won't stumble.

Update: I have a new computer but it's taking me some time to set everything up. It is nice to have a new toy though. One disappointment is my flat screen monitor. It's a wide screen and elongates everything. Surely there's a setting to change that but I couldn't find it. So I ended up putting it back in the box. My little 13 inch monitor works fine.

My computer is crashing! I may be offline for a little while. A friend said my operating system may be the problem. I don't know what I am going to do until it's fixed. It will be like holding my breathe or not eating. What a minute... what's this? It's a book! Do they still exist? LOL! Actually I have a lot of summer reading planned and hopefully I'll be doing that by the pool. And I still have TV. Really, what do I have to complain about? Besides $4.00 a gallon for gas.

And my thoughts are with Tim Russert's family. I'll always remember him with a smile on his face.

UPDATE: I got my computer back on June 24th. It turned out to be my hard drive. I guess this happens to everyone eventually. I'm trying to get caught up and will be back into the swing of things soon.

And sadly my thoughts are now also with George Carlin's family, friends, and fans. I was lucky enough to see him in concert twice. He was an amazing performer.

Tomorrow Big Brown will try to win the Triple Crown. I won't be watching. But I do hope he stays healthy. Especially considering he has a cracked hoof. I don't know what that means and I'm not a horse expert. Hopefully it's nothing serious. If anything happens to him it will be another big blow to the horse racing industry. A part of me hopes he runs well but doesn't win. My fear is a Triple Crown winner now will over shadow the problems that may exist. Like I said, I'm no expert, but could the owners of Big Brown be willing to risk his life for money and glory? I hope not.

Update: I didn't expect him to finish last! Now I worry about his future. Will he be considered a lame horse? Thankfully the jockey had the wherewith all to realize Big Brown couldn't run this race and safety came first. I hope the owner considers the life of this horse more important than this wallet. If Big Brown had been a Triple Crown winner his future would be assured.

Today I found Pickle in a hole but he won't come out. At least I know he's alive! I've set a trap and so far I can tell he went inside twice, drank the tuna water, but didn't trigger the thing. So now I have hope, but also frustration.

I've been so worried these past two weeks and haven't been able to focus on much else. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some time tonight Pickle will set the trap off.

This photo is of Pickle when he was an outdoor stray kitten. I took him in after he was attacked by a raccoon. He survived that, now I hope he survives his latest adventure.

Happy VD!

What a silly holiday. I can't actually say I hate it. I just have no use for it. And for a few of my friends it's more like Crappy Valentines Day. My two best friends had their dog die on Valentines Day and another friend was raped on Valentines Day. Maybe I should celebrate February 14th as a day nothing bad happened to me! On a lighter note, one of my cats was born on Valentines Day. That's kind of nice I suppose.

It's snowing here! Something we don't see too often anymore. And it's the big fluffy kind of flakes! I don't remember the weather reports mentioning anything about this earlier today. We have about a micro of an inch so far. All of my outdoor stray cats are tucked away in their shelters. But I worry about a new cat I'm working on. A solid grey smokey one, like my Bucky. It's been coming by late at night for food. I don't think it's feral but it is very timid. They usually are at first. I work at earning their trust with food. Then it's only a matter of time before I can either trap it or grab it to get it spayed/neutered and vaccinated. That's the routine. I don't know how many more I can take care of, but I'll do what I can for any that show up.

Update: We have about an inch of snow now. It's a blizzard! Well, blizzard by North Carolina standards. And the grey kitty just came by. I gave it a large portion of food. It's amazing how much they can eat when they are hungry.

The snow!
