I agree with your post. The question I have been wrestling with over the past 6 to 8 months is how best to push back. I have written 'letters to the editor', I have started my own blog, I have tried to engage people who accept lies as fact, but to little avail. Ultimately, it seems that the far right wing is not interested in facts, attempting to find out what is happening around them, or even engage someone like me in civil conversation. The people I have spoken with just get pissed off, and move away. They are ā€¯know nothingsā€oe in a very real sense.

From the page: "We might have harbored a smidgen of hope for better things from our government on the occasion of two Congressional hearings on the Arar case in 2007. On October 18, 2007, Arar testified via video at a House Joint Committee Hearing convened to discuss his rendition by the US to Syria for interrogation under torture. During that hearing - the first time he testified before any US governmental body - individual members of Congress publicly apologized to him. But the government stopped well short of any kind of formal apology. The following week, on October 24, then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice acknowledged during a House Foreign Affairs Committee Hearing that the US government had mishandled his case.

Mishandled his case? Tone-deaf statement of the year!"

If corporate America has its way, everything from our parking meters, zoos, airports, toll roads and drinking water will be privatized in the biggest fire sale in the history of the industrialized world. In other words, let's send a powerful message to our children that the reward for corporate greed, incompetence and criminal behavior is to hand over what's left of the country's assets.
