Friend requests will not, in general, be reciprocated. Rather, the thing to do is to drop me a message and be friendly. That does not mean "can we be friends?", but just making conversation. Okay, it's true that conversation isn't my greatest forte, but accumulating "friends" at random has to be one of the web's more meaningless activities. As with life, these things needs to be worked at!

Old-time friends and contacts can of course send friend requests without it being a problem :o)

Not really my kind of game, but I've been 'tagged' by a certain Suzy, and I think that I'll follow the rules for a change. Here they are:

1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Post a comment and then tag five more people.

When our fathers stood aginst the Persians they had no such resources as we have now; indeed, they abandoned even what they had, and then it was by wisdom rather than by good fortune, by daring rather than by material power, that they drove back the foreign invasion and made our city what it is today. We must live up to the standard they set: we must resist our enemies in any and every way, and try to leave those who come after us an Athens that is as great as ever.'

This was Pericles' speech.

Okay, now guess the book :D

Hey folks,

Despite the next review, I'm not interested in this war between theists and atheists; the issue to me is censorship, and how the TOS is applied.

Contentiously, I don't believe that the issue is equality, but rather freedom. Freedom and equality always contend with one another, whatever the theory. Although there will be difficult edge cases, throwing someone off SU should be on the grounds of harrassment, rather than offence caused.

It is harrassment that has caused this recent series of bannings, but the answer isn't to destroy what SU was by eliminating all edgy characters. The proportional response to offence is blocking. Banning is right for harassment, though, since harassers go on to harass others.

Thanks for listening,
~Tim.

I have just changed my profile to say "agnostic". I wish that I could say "Pantheist", which though a belief, is not a religion.

I've settled upon "agnostic" not because of issue about provability, but because whether I believe in God or not depends upon what the questioner believes by the term. Since that is something that I cannot know, I do not know whether or not I fulfill their criteria.

My Score: Much More Scientific

I have:
77% SCIENTIFIC INTUITION and
55% EMOTIONAL INTUITION

My scientific intuition is stronger than my emotional intuition. What a surprise! I have a diagnosis for Asperger's Syndrome.

Your Emotional Intuition score is a measure of how well you understand people, especially their unspoken needs and sympathies. A high score score usually indicates social grace and persuasiveness. A low score usually means you're good at Quake†.

Your Scientific Intuition score tells you how in tune you are with the world around you; how well you understand your physical and intellectual environment. People with high scores here are apt to succeed in business and, of course, the sciences.

†I am, in fact, pretty good at Sauerbraten!
