About the purpose of our life

Q: Why and what are we here for?"

M: Oh, the restless mind... it always asks the "why"...

That seems to be its function.
Can you imagine it is just a malfunction?
What if there is no reason?

You could say we`re here, because we choosed to.
You could say we`re here, because that is our function.
You could say we`re here for joy only. Our joy. Gods joy.

All this an more - and less.

Give yourself an explanation - your mind will accept.
Learning, developing, teaching. Nothing is necessary...

Be free and live!
And most of all: Who is the "we" that is "here"?
This is the key.

The day the mind stops asking is the day you understand.

Also, the question is only possible, when you think there is some kind of progression. A point to go to, things that develop to a special goal.

But when you`re really here and now - and see there is nowhere else to be - you realize that there is no progression, no past and no future. All and everything is here and now.

So nothing makes "sense" - all just IS.

Q: What is most important to you for progression?

M: To stop asking - and to begin knowing.
To stop searching - and to begin living.

More discussion here.

Q: And what does not change, what is?
I can not say I know everything, and I believe you can not either.
What a terrible thought too, to know everything... what then is the purpose of living? What is there left to do?

What is your "purpose of living"? Not to know?

All you say seems to make sense from a personal point of view: You seem to be a person and there seem to be a world outside of you.

If you would just for second see like I do: I am not outside the world and the world is not outside of me. There is no separation. And so there is no development and also no sense. And that`s the biggest blessing!

All is perfect, and all is perfect now and here. As you transfer things into future, your world will never be perfect. You will always be searching. I don`t. And so there is nothing left to do.

And then - everything can be done, can be really done! I am free while you seem to be a prisoner. Truth is, you are not.

What things do not change? You know it already. You only have to stop ignoring that.

Q: ... But, what if, even if I realize all this... I still can't make myself feel honestly happy... I keep telling myself that sadness and happiness are just imposed, and not real, and that I can *choose* which to have, and that doesn't seem to work... And even if I realize that there is Love/God in everything and everyone, I still feel a lack of it...Some lethargy and emptyness... And I can't get over myself at most times. Sometimes when "happy", I feel like I am only pretending, all the time. And it ends up making me immensly sad... Sorry to bother you, but I read you opinion on Love, and Everyday Problems, and I was thinking about this...

It seems like you act from the personal view. It was the identification with your creations that created the person. But as a person, which is a product of dualism and exists in dualism only, you will always be caught in false happyness and sadness.

Just remember it was the mind that created the person (and the whole world, too). The moment you understand how the mind works you will get the control back. Just observe the mind. Don´t analyze, don`t make yourself any opinions. And remember: you`re not what you can see.

Don`t give the wrong world (which is your ideas only) reality. See reality like it is.

And what`s left... is love. That`s how I see it. Much love to you!

What makes you learn?

Q: What makes you learn?

M: I do not learn.

How could I learn? I cannot change, so how could I learn.

Learning is just a funny illusion. There is nothing that can be hidden from you. There is nothing you cannot achive. It is all a matter of consciousness.

So what happens when you learn? Within yourself you build up the idea that you learn and anticipate the whole "learning process". What you ignore is, that you`re responsible for everything: The idea you do not know a special thing - the way you "learn" - and the result, the happyness you feel when you`re smarter. That`s all. You invented this whole little story, and you`re the author and the actor.

Really, you´re none of those. But you had some fun.

Q: I have learned to love... and to love to learn

How can you learn what you already ARE? That is not possible.

You are love in every situation. You cannot be anything else. You cannot learn. That would mean you`re NOT the whole. But you are. Always. Better said: You`re not limited by time or "progression".

And remember this: As long as you think you need to learn, you will make that experience. So as long as that you will just move in circles and do NOT learn.

Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

All paths lead to unreality.

All you need is awareness of being - not as a verbal statement but as an ever present fact.

You should understand this clearly - If one thinks that one is the body, one becomes a slave of mind and suffers accordingly.

Be wakeful to that state which is prior to the sprouting of words.

Real meditation is to abide in this sense of being.

You have a mountain of concepts and words. To get rid of these, you use other concepts. When you throw out all the concepts, including your primary concept, then whatever is, IS.

All this spirituality is only for understanding your true nature. Unless you realise your true nature, there will be no peace for you.

Finally, you have to understand that the principle which you are using to talk, to move about and operate in this world, is not you.

My silence sings - my emptiness is full.

Living is Life's only purpose.

Under the right teacher the disciple learns to learn, not to remember and obey.

That you are, you know. What you are, you don't know. Find out what you are.

Be earnest and you will not fail to break the bonds of inattention and imagination.

Find the spark of life that weaves the tissues of the body and be with it. It is the only reality the body has.

You are looking for the cause of what you are not.

Be conscious of yourself, watch your mind, give it your full attention - What you are (at present) is the result of inattention and what you will become, will be the fruit of attention. Inattention obscures, attention clarifies.

Awareness and matter are the active and passive aspects of pure being.

You can skip all the preparation and go straight to the ultimate search within.

Consciousness

Q: If what we say is a brain product, then all we can do is recognize the thing (by our own perceptions) and do a brain activity that corresponds.

But isn't this a reaction instead of a response?

What does this mean? What can we take from it?

M: We do not "say" anything and there IS no "brain" (it just SEEMS so - it just LOOKS like it). :-)

All we do is "watch". But also there is no observer and no object. Just the progress of observing. Consciousness.

No "thing" has influence on another. It is like a beam of light that does not disturb another even if they both cross their way. After this they will just remain the same. So there is no response either.

When you watch all this without prejudice, then you will see it clearly.

You`re confusing your impressions, your ideas and experiences with reality. Reality IS, not matter what you think about it. Reality can not be described with words, because reality is not limited like words. You even cannot think about reality, because it is not limited by your thoughts. Therefore it cannot be defined.

Do you call yourself GOD?

Q: Was just reading your 'i am' poem, and it sound to me almost like you are calling yourself God. If I am mistaken please correct me, but I would like to understand more about your self-classification. thank you.

M: Thanks for asking. No, I do not call myself God. The thing is, that I do not call myself anything. I am not "this" or "that", I am!

Every definition sets a limit, but I know - beyond any doubt know - that I am NOT limited in any way. The idea of GOD is limiting, too. Though there is a reality that we cannot understand mentally. But we can undestand truely. All we have to "do" is to let go all of our limiting ideas.

What`s left is what IS.

So - as long as we think in dimensions of names and forms, we cannot see through to what is the SOURCE of names and formes.

Q: The reason I asked because when God was asked who he was he replied "I am". That answer was for our benefit and does not at all define God, since he is so much more. The idea of God is limiting, our perception of Him is. I agree that be placing a name to something you limit it. You cannot say you are not limited though, for you yourself are limited in understanding God, and many other ideas beyond human comprehension. You strike me as someone trying to live outside this reality, and act as though you are not confined by your physical body. I most likely do not fully understand you however. One last question, are you a fan of Plato by any chance?

M: Who IS does not speak - I do not say "I am"; the words appear somewhere somehow, and I watch. I see the words coming just as you do. I am surpised of what the hands seem to write right now as much as you are reading them.

I am not identified with a body or a person or anything. I see things as a whole and watch life as you might watch a show on TV or in theater. Everything happens on its own. I do not act. And none of the actors are me, just because I see the whole story from the view of one of them. and I know I can change the view when I like to (I sometimes do - you do that, too, maybe you don`t realize it!) and I know that now I have lost the idea of being born I will not neccessarily be born again - only if I like to.

I even do not see different materials - they are all of the same kind for me. No thing is "good" or "bad" in my eyes; I just watch it all curiously.

Plato seems to be a "seeing soul", yes, but I would not call myself a fan, maybe I am a fan of my own, just like I am my own father and mother.

PS: Do not try to understand me. There is nothing that can be understood. Give up your ideas and you WILL understand. Understanding is your natural state!
