Snippets from my side of a Skype conversation, a window into my life, if you will:
I'm sorry you're not happy.
Because I think I have like anti-depression.
Coming back from poetry slams always makes me feel like this, and even the smell of my room, cat poop or vomit or, most likely, alcohol, though slightly off-putting when I first walked into the room, cannot make me stop smiling.
Although the only thing I would like right now is somebody to hug.
So I guess I can sympathize there, at least.

It took me a while to decide how to get both the rad shoes and Paper Towns in at the same time. I am rather proud of it myself.
I had the most obnoxious green-striped socks on when I bought the shoes, my mother was a bit appalled.
What's funny is that I actually tried to get three different pairs of "normal" tennis shoes, but the biggest size they had in any of them was 9.
Eh, doesn't matter. I wouldn't have worn them, I don't think.
I buy one pair of shoes and wear them until they fall apart. (Main reason my mom brought me shoe shopping in the first place; the pair I was wearing at Terminus was past due even then)
I only like shoes that are a bit distinctive, I guess you could say? My old striped ones were my favorite shoes ever. Too bad shoe people decide to discontinue them before I'm finished
I've never worn a pair of converse. Never saw a pair that really caught my eye, or at least not when I was in the mood for a new pair of shoes

The only poem I can recite is a love poem in Spanish.
Oh, and the purple cow poem.

And awwww you guys! The guy who is a "two-time Individual World Poetry Slam Champion" was the one who started to cry at the end of his last poem... I should have given him a hug or something. Just knowing that somebody can do that for so long and still put so much emotion in everything they do

That's one of the reasons I like [him] so much.
But not really, Elphie, since he has a "more or less" relationship at the moment which is not me.
At least, he did the last time I asked him about it, but I still haven't gotten the courage to flat out ask who she or he is, or even if it's a he or a she
I am a nosy person, but I don't want -him- to know that.

Yet another reason why I like poetry slams - people can write poems about "nerdy" things like D&D and get tons of applause

I still can't get over the fact that so many people happened to walk through our lobby though, that was so random!

I would have liked a little warning about a redesign, at least!
I hate it at the moment, but I'm sure it'll be just like Facebook in the end - I'll get used to it, but there will still be some changes I don't understand.

I don't normally make blog posts, but I had something to say.
I wish I knew Spanish fluently. There was a family at Subway today who did not understand what I was saying, except for their seven-year-old, who was not really paying attention to them and instead telling me how cool everything looked.� When they got to the vegetables, I'm not sure they realized that they were telling me half of them in Spanish, because I understood when they said it and didn't ask them what they meant (cebolla = onion, lechuga = lettuce).� So I do know a bit, but if I was in a Spanish-speaking country I'd sure brush up on my language skills pretty darn quick.
I mean, if they'd rather go through the English-speaking part of their lives translating through their seven-year-old, that's their own choice.� I'm going to be working a four-hour shift no matter how long it takes me to make their sandwich.� But it would be fantastic if I was fluent in Spanish!

So I just finished this book. It's called Under the Wolf, Under the Dog, and it's by Adam Rapp.

I have never heard of this author before today. I was just in the library, looking for books on Australia and aborigines so I could do my History Day project. (Which I haven't started.) The book just caught my eye as I was looking along the juvenile fiction shelf. The title, really. It's a pretty strange title, you have to admit. So I read the summary, then I'd finished the first twenty pages without realizing. And I checked it out. And when I got home, I laid (lay? layed?) down on my bed and read for five hours straight. I finished the 310-page book while listening to the 17 Enya songs on my iPod on repeat three or four times.

If you want to know what the book's about, you can look on Amazon.com or something, because for some reason I can't post a link.

I don't quite know what was so great about this book, but it was. It was totally engrossing and I haven't read a book like it in a long time. And I can say that it certainly gave me about a hundred more reasons why I will never try drugs.
