My love affair with Kevin Smith continues...

Mr. Smith recently came to my little town to speak to all of us about the evil trappings of porn videos, the dangers of Ben Affleck placing his balls on your neck and the fabulousness of Colin Farrell's penis. I can reasonably say, without reservation, that "An Evening with Kevin Smith" is the best evening I've ever had. After listening to this man speak you begin to forget that you're in the presence of greatness and you realize just how down to earth this man really is in person.

He stole our hearts with his honest and praise filled review of our local attraction or as he likes to call it, the BFM (Big Fucking Mall), and he had us clutching our sides from laughing for four straight hours.

The only downside to the evening was the fact that the venue had to cut him short (he wanted to go at least 6 hours). I urge you... if Kevin Smith comes to your town, do not miss the boat!!

Now with that said, I am about to be in the same room as Kevin Smith. I can't believe the day is almost here. But I am also dreading it since I can't think of one question that would make him stop and say, "Who is that? Dang, no one has ever asked me such an insightful question in my life!" What is Paraskevidekatriaphobia, you may ask? Well, let me enlighten you. It's the fear of Friday the 13th. People have always been mystified by this number. You may think it's irrational or completely rational, depending on your mood. You may be one of those people who can't go to work or get behind the wheel of a car. You may believe that if 13 people sit down to dinner, they will all die within the year. You may believe that if you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil's luck. Take Charles Manson, for instance.

I, myself, have had a pretty great life. I have 13 letters in my name, but I haven't suffered any horrible and evil fates. I'm not a serial killer. I'm in my mid-30s and I'm still alive. All in all, I'm a pretty blessed person.

I completely understand about phobias, however. I'm arachnophobic, but I still sat down one day and held a tarantula. Well, I had about 10 people surrounding me to ensure I didn't hurt the poor little guy if I panicked. Even though I almost passed out and threw up, I made it through and to this day I'm better for it. I can actually be in the same room as a spider now.

C'mon people! Rise up! Friday the 13th should be embraced as any other day! You can do it! I'm behind you all the way.
