Speaking of help in troubled times, when I was stuck in Tennessee, on the lam & living under an assumed name and all that other not-anywhere-near-as glamorous-as-it-might-sound stuff, I'm sure I've mentioned that things got very bad from time-to-time. At one point I was living w/my son on the outskirts of this resort town in this vile condemned shack of a boarding house which was empty & abandoned except for me & this cocain addicted stripper named Sherry & her boyfriend Gary (or Jerry or something). There were no lights, and no water, and no work in town because the season was over. I had no car. I was carrying my five year old son around on my back most times (this was before he had his heart surgery, when he was still weak all the time), walking back & forth, 8 miles both ways, along the sides of highways, trying to get to and from the nearest town where I could apply for some HELP. It was winter, it was cold. I wasn't about to hitchhike. Good thing I was made strong so I could do what I had to do. I was coming "home" after these treks to things like hate messages carved onto my door, stuff about how my kid was demon seed and I was a pawn of Satan and such on account of me being seen as a witch or something. This was in The Bible Belt, USA. People get like that down there. In this time of trouble I was never offered a word of kindness or even one hand held out in friendship or succor. Sherry was fun, but in almost as much trouble as I was, except she didn't have a child to care for, and she was a good scam artist and a daring thief and got money for her drugs & food in many ways I couldn't safely pull-off (although I totally admred that she could). It was not an easy time in my life. To say the very very least.

Finally when things seemed the most hopeless, and darkest there, help came. Some people reached out. Without being asked. Without looking for anything back. They saw I was in trouble and they just started showing up and giving. It wasn't the church-ladies, or JW's or the Red Cross or some Society for the Betterment of W's & PWT either. It was a bunch of bikers, a bunch of Outlaws who had taken over another abandoned building near the one I was in.

These are some of the best people on Earth. IMO. I realize there are bad guys in amongst them, just like any other sub-culture, but the people I met in Tennessee, the bikers I met in TN, were the most solid, non-judgemental, HUMAN group of human-beings I've met so far in life.

I just wanted to mention this.

The Highwayman
by Stevie Nicks

Alas he was the highwayman
The one that comes and goes
And only the highway-woman
Keeps up with the likes of those
And she in all her magic
With hands as quick as light
Took him to be a challenge
And went into the night

And he in all his glory
Was far ahead of her
But she was never sorry
For wishes that would burn
Enter competition
She chases beneath the moon
Her horse is like a dragonfly
She is just a fool

And she wonders is this real
Or does she just want to be Queen
And he fights the way he feels
Is this the end of the dream

And then he sees her coming
Heartbeats on the wind
Considers slowing down
But then...he could never win
And she...out in the distance
Sees him against the sky
A pale and violent rider
A dream begun in wine

And she wonders is this real
Or does she just want to be Queen
And he fights the way he feels
Is this the end of the dream

A dream as the thunder wakes her
And her highwayman disappears
on a life already lived before
In eyes welled with tears

Today and still today they ride
Will they ever win
He the glory...
She the love...
Still they try again
He the glory...
She the love...
Still they try again
He the glory...
She the love...
And still they...try...again

("The Highwayman" continued)
IV
She twisted her hands behind her; but all the knots held good!
She writhed her hands till here fingers were wet with sweat or blood!
They stretched and strained in the darkness, and the hours crawled by like
years,
Till, now, on the stroke of midnight,
Cold, on the stroke of midnight,
The tip of one finger touched it! The trigger at least was hers!

V
The tip of one finger touched it; she strove no more for the rest!
Up, she stood up to attention, with the barrel beneath her breast,
She would not risk their hearing; she would not strive again;
For the road lay bare in the moonlight;
Blank and bare in the moonlight;
And the blood of her veins in the moonlight throbbed to her love's refrain.

VI
Tlot-tlot; tlot-tlot! Had they heard it? The horse-hoofs
ringing clear;
Tlot-tlot, tlot-tlot, in the distance? Were they deaf that they did
not hear?
Down the ribbon of moonlight, over the brow of the hill,
The highwayman came riding,
Riding, riding!
The red-coats looked to their priming! She stood up strait and still!

VII
Tlot-tlot, in the frosty silence! Tlot-tlot, in the echoing night
!
Nearer he came and nearer! Her face was like a light!
Her eyes grew wide for a moment; she drew one last deep breath,
Then her finger moved in the moonlight,
Her musket shattered the moonlight,
Shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him-with her death.

VIII
He turned; he spurred to the West; he did not know who stood
Bowed, with her head o'er the musket, drenched with her own red blood!
Not till the dawn he heard it, his face grew grey to hear
How Bess, the landlord's daughter,
The landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Had watched for her love in the moonlight, and died in the darkness there.

IX
Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky,
With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high!
Blood-red were his spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat,
When they shot him down on the highway,
Down like a dog on the highway,
And he lay in his blood on the highway, with a bunch of lace at his throat.

*       *       *       *       *       *

X
And still of a winter's night, they say, when the wind is in the trees,
When the moon is a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
When the road is a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
A highwayman comes riding-
Riding-riding-
A highwayman comes riding, up to the old inn-door.

XI
Over the cobbles he clatters and clangs in the dark inn-yard,
And he taps with his whip on the shutters, but all is locked and barred;
He whistles a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord's daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

When the temperature is too hot for me (which would be any time it's much over 85 degrees farenheit) it makes me ill. Literally. I cannot handle it. Where I am (merely dwelling) at present, the temperature soars to well over the 100 degree mark for weeks on end with nary a drop of rain. During this dry hot season I become almost nocturnal. But the last few days have been cooler, at least in the mornings, so I am not stumbling as much because I have been dashing madly around outside my house, trying to get as many " around-the-outside-of-the-house" type chores done as I can in the time nature allots me. It is a mad race to see how much I can do before the weather turns deadly inferno-like again and I have to crawl back inside my home where I will lie in front of my fans like some weak dying vampire-beast until well after sundown.
