So, some jerk on stumble with the screen name ww954 e-mails me saying:

"Sonny. I too am a fag but U sure don't look it. I go through sites looking for guys to fantasize with. I have seen your pic around but never thought U were one of us. Good to meet you son and luck with your studies. ~Wayne"

That really really bothered me. Where does he get off saying I don't look gay? Did he not get the memo that gays don't have a look? Is it because I'm overweight? Is it because I have acne? Is it my hair or my eyes? Are these things that are limited to heterosexuals? I think it's a dangerous thing to believe that all gays have a certain look.

His email has even more strangeness to it when you view his profile. He calls me Sonny and son but his profile states that he's 23 years old (only 3 years older than me). I hardly think that gives him the age required to call me son. Either he can't count or he lies through his teeth on his profile in an attempt to pick up younger men. I'm guessing the later. Such behavior is reprehensible.

I'm guessing that Wayne must be an older generation gay (maybe 50+) who had to dress up in ridiculous outfits and wear multicolored handkerchiefs in his pocket so that other men would know he was gay because it was too dangerous to be out. Fortunately enough for me and my generation being gay is acceptable in the American society of today. I was out in high school and was well known among my school as the president of our Gay Straight Alliance. No one dared tease me and I was respected by the faculty and student body.

There have been people that were surprised to find I was gay because I'm not flaming. They all had something in common, they were heterosexual. They knew not what it means to be gay. They were going on stereotypes and minimal exposure to homosexuals. I forgive their ignorance, they did not know better. Being a homosexual himself, Wayne should have known better. That is why I am so shocked by his words.
