I'm familiar with the usual slate of colors available in most graphics program palettes from White Smoke to Midnight Blue, and the so-called "web-safe colors," etc., but I've never heard of a lot of these colors! Willow Brook, Marigold Yellow, Bridal Heath, Verdun Green, Cotton Candy, Lunar Hue, Torea Bay, Riptide, Mona Lisa, Ripe Lemon and on and on. This site has a nice little web app that lets you browse through over 1500 colors that were gleaned from Wikipedia, Crayola, and Color-Name Dictionaries like Resene. It provides a standard color wheel, color swatch, hex and RGB values as well as a dropdown list so you can pick colors by name. A nice resource for those who need all the help they can get when it comes to colors--like me!

Many planetary scientists believe that Jupiter's moon Europa is our solar system's best contender to share Earth's distinction of harboring life. Evidence gathered by the Voyager and Galileo spacecrafts suggests Europa contains a deep, possibly warm ocean of salty water under an outer shell of fissured ice. In a paper published in the July 2007 Journal of Aerospace Engineering a British mechanical engineer proposes sending a submarine to explore Europa's oceans.

In 1996, filmmaker Robert Meyer Burnett created this video in just over one day utilizing spare AVID time. The music cue comes from John Williams' NIXON soundtrack and is called "The 1960's: The Turbulent Years."
