The journey is almost over. rrick has posted pics of the hats religious experience in the Great Salt Lakes. Although his original premise of wearing a "I heart mormon pussy" tshirt and visit to the Mormon Temple for some pictures did not materialize, he saved his life and the hat lives on for another day.

Well, I've abused my privileges and time with the hat (and its power). Time to send this pimper back to Johnny. And how could I better spend the last of my time with porkpie than knitting him a manly scarf to protect him from the icy grip of death called Rochester. You heard me, when I'm not provoking fundamentalist Christians or jamming forks in Republican's eyes, I like to knit. Like I need to impress YOU people. So au revoir chapeau, travel safe.

What a fucking guy. Long live the porkpie. Next stop is home in Rochester. Just in time for the fall.

Latest Hat Action from actionjeans who in the course of the past few weeks, lost his camera, had big ideas with the porkpie and in his own words has had a "rare week". Here's a pic he is currently using as his avi that shows the hat on the top of his hydrocephalic size dome (his phrasing... not mine)

He has also provided us with pics of his youngest family unit that will surely make all you ankle bracelet lovers swoon...

Yeah, so I had all these awesome ideas about taking Johnnyuma's hat on a tour of San Antonio, getting pictures wearing it in front of the important landmarks (all the cool spots the tourists don't know about), etc.... but once again, life gets in the way of all the stuff I actually want to do.

As a result, I ended up keeping the hat longer than I meant to, slowing its mission of spreading head-bourne vermin to new and distant lands. I apologize. Rest assured, the hat will resume its journey as of Monday, safely in the hands of the U.S. postal service and on its way to Rrrick, where he will surely make better use of his time with the hat than I have.

To make up for it, here's some gratuitously cute pictures of my infant daughter wearing the shit out of a pork-pie hat.

Thanks Gabe....now onto Salt Lake City for the final stop before the return home to Rochester.

The Hat Does Dallas
Starting it's journey sometime last year in the bowels of the johnnyuma household in New Jersey, the hat has been to Australia, Italy, Nashville, Dallas, and is now headed for Action Jeans in San Antonio.
A location shot 45 years in the making!

OK, so what better place to prove the Hat has done Dallas than to take it the center of the Beast- the JFK assassination site? Here I am, walking up the street from the overpass and standing beside the site of the first shot..(It was 187 degrees that day..the hat made it even worse) See the Grassy Knoll in the background?

And here I am standing directly beside, in the middle of the street, the site (X) of the second shot- the messy one.

In front of the former Schoolbook Depository..look up! the 6th floor window where Lee Harvey Oswald stacked his last pile of boxes..

The preach makes his definitive conclusions
" Conclusions:

2. I should never wear a hat.
3. There are a lot of people my age and older who come here to look at the Xs in the street and stand where Zapruder stood. Why? I think it is so they can again tell whoever is standing nearby, where they were and what they were doing that day. It connects them, in their mind, to history.

Da Hat returns! Colinsfreakindad shares with us his initial round with the legendary porkpie.
So, a while back Johnny Yuma sent out a hat, that has made it from Australia to Italy to Pennsylvania (I always say that like it's spooky, like Transylvania - I think it's from the Simpsons, but it has stuck with my family and we all seem to do it), and now from the swamps of NJ to my home in the mountainous Hudson Valley of NY. Tonight, Colin and I took the hat out for it's first outing (though as Magicdot was kind enough to warn me, it certainly does have a thirst, and has been pestering me to take it to a bar where it can meet ladies and get them to put it on. We'll see about that) But for now I give you grainy skating night photos:

Colin had to be threatened, cajoled, and finally bribed with promises of a pretzel after skating to wear the hat - he said he didn't want anyone to see him. 20 years from now he'll ask me for the pic to show his friends that he's always been cool. *chuckle*

This was taken while Colin was doing his lesson (we're not all allowed on the ice until the lessons are done, but I made good use of the time)
