Ferocious Lions

The habits of guessing and assumption can be like ferocious lions.
So do not allow them to run wild.

Thoughts have great power,
they are like seeds you plant in your mind.
The more you hold onto a particular thought,
the more power you invest in it.
Positive thoughts give us energy and strength.
Negative thoughts rob us of power
and make us feel tired and strained.

We are by nature positive.
Negativity is the result of faulty thinking.
You can change if you want to.
You can't control other people,
situation or circumstances,
but you can control what is going on inside you.
Be patient with yourself.

It takes time to change and transform those old patterns of thinking.

No matter where you are right now,
you can start over ~ today.
You have a choice to make.
You can choose to keep making the same decisions
and stay where you are,
or you can choose to start over,
and start making some changes
that will move you closer to your dreams.

It starts with a thought..... Today!

What is the upside and downside of Nobel Prizes in present times?

Venkatraman Ramakrishnan quite modestly
answers this question in the following words:

Do you think the Nobel prizes reward too few people?

"This rule of three is a little unfortunate, and not reflective of the way
science is done today. Science is no longer carried out by small
numbers of people; science is now a hugely collaborative enterprise.
So these awards tend to make it too much like a sporting event,
and that is a slightly unfortunate downside."

What is the upside?

"It draws attention to scientific discoveries. But even then,
after a couple of days no one on the street remembers
what the prize was for, so there should be a more
sustained effort to educate the public."

Climbing mountains for the great humanitarian cause:

Calum Morris Macintyre, a sixteen years old British girl has started
attempting to climb Ama Dablam in the Himalayas with her father,
Dave Morris, and their friend Sandy Allan, on his Team Ascent Expedition.
She is climbing to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust in aid
of the great work they do for young people who are battling with cancer.

A 22,500ft / 6850m high peak, Ama Dablam has been described
as one of the most spectacular mountains in the world.

Percy Bysshe Shelley's Hymn to Intellectual Beauty and Mont Blanc:

Mont Blanc, Alpine massif, on the French-Italian border, South East of Geneva.

One of its several peaks, also called Mont Blanc (15,771 ft / 4,807 m),
is the highest peak in France and the second highest in Europe.
The first successful ascent of Mont Blanc was made in 1786.

In 1965 a highway tunnel (7.5 mi / 12.1 km long) under Mont Blanc,
linking Chamonix with Courmayeur, Italy, was opened to traffic.
It provides a short, year-round route between Paris and Rome,
as well as a link between the Geneva region and Italy.

It was closed as a result of a fire from 1999 to 2002.
The tunnel is one of the longest vehicular tunnels in the world.

~ It's September ~

It's September, and the orchards are afire with red and gold,
And the nights with dew are heavy, and the morning's sharp with cold;
Now the garden's at its gayest with the salvia blazing red
And the good old-fashioned asters laughing at us from their bed;
Once again in shoes and stockings are the children's little feet,
And the dog now does his snoozing on the bright side of the street.

It's September, and the cornstalks are as high as they will go,
And the red cheeks of the apples everywhere begin to show;
Now the supper's scarcely over ere the darkness settles down
And the moon looms big and yellow at the edges of the town;
Oh, it's good to see the children, when their little prayers are said,
Duck beneath the patchwork covers when they tumble into bed.

It's September, and a calmness and a sweetness seem to fall
Over everything that's living, just as though it hears the call
Of Old Winter, trudging slowly, with his pack of ice and snow,
In the distance over yonder, and it somehow seems as though
Every tiny little blossom wants to look its very best
When the frost shall bite its petals and it droops away to rest.

It's September! It's the fullness and the ripeness of the year;
All the work of earth is finished, or the final tasks are near,
