While evaluating my firm's performance over the last few weeks as it relates to the relationships we have with our clients, I made some observations about the critical elements that define the success or failure of those relationships for us. I have come up with this list of commandments to act as a clear directive about how we behave when it comes to our relationships. Some of these come from defining challenges I personally have when dealing with clients, some address the approach I take with online public relations, and others just make sense from a "best practices" point-of-view. We will refer to it daily and will make changes as appropriate.

Understanding that this list is specific to my team, these bullets may be a good starting point for you to develop for your team. Adopting any of these can only improve your relationship with your clients.

We are looking to be as inclusive as possible with this giveaway, so the rules on creating the video entry are really simple. We ask the contestants to tell us, in video form, what they will do with the money if they win the $100,000. That's pretty much it!

While most people simply associate authentication services with a unified method of managing their sign-in activity across several websites, Facebook Connect does much more than simply letting users log in to a site by validating their identity via their Facebook account. When logging in with Facebook Connect, users bring their Facebook profile data with them. This means the website or blog they just logged into can allow them to find their friends who also use the same site. Furthermore, they can share information and experiences using the same features as they would on a Facebook application. With Facebook Connect, almost every feature that you can build with an application on Facebook can be offered through a third-party website or application using the service.

Celebrities, organizations, politicians, and corporate entities are making use of the Facebook Fan Page option in most cases today. Nevertheless, Group pages remain popular in some cases, I believe, because they are easy to set up. No matter what direction you choose, it more important than anything else to simply cultivate your user base and communicate with them.

For cable channel AMC Television, August 26, 2008 was a difficult day. Some fans of the show Mad Men, a property of AMC TV, had taken it upon themselves to establish Twitter accounts in the names of the show's characters. Not only that, but they were twittering in character and had created an alternate world of twittertainment for fans...

Let's take a moment to focus on marketing strategies by highlighting some of the key features of the Facebook fan page, using as an example the Threadless site/fan page, which has over 75,000 fans. Threadless.com releases new graphic t-shirts weekly which are designed, submitted and rated by their own community. Since Threadless is so dependent upon its customers/community for its product and for the content created around its products, it's easy to understand why they view Facebook as a critical element in their over all marketing strategy.
