Ok, let me tell you about the hotel room weirdness of last week. We were staying in the local Marriott for the night before heading down to look at houses in Louisiana. The GF's cats really hate hotels and take ever opportunity to hide until its time to go, you can catch glimpses of the in the middle of the night but for the most part they are ninja.

So it comes time to check out so of course we have to track the bastards down, after finding one we had a really hard time locating the other one. I thought that maybe it had made its way under the boxspring of the bed as its one of its more favorite spots as it knows it's a pain in the ass to get to. I take the mattress off and find that someone has put church pamphlets (3"X 6") about underage sex and abstinence under the mattress, if this isn't odd enough they went thru the effort to lay one on top and across the other to form little crosses and had them laid out in rows so the whole bedsprings was covered. I was thinking to myself "damn, that's odd...wonder if they thought that dogma worked via the principal of osmosis?"

Well I took the pamphlets up and threw them away and proceed to check under the boxsprings for the ninja cat...didn't find her under the bed but did find something I think is pretty damn creepy. I found a doll box (brand new) and beside it a female doll about 3' tall that had been stripped (cloths laid out to the side in a neat little pile) and the doll had been cut open from its neck down to the genital area, the cloth skin had been pulled back and folded over and all the stuffing from the doll had been removed. Needless to say it sort of gave me the willies and I seriously debated wither or not to report it to the hotel but in the end I just putting the bed back together and made a mental note not to check under hotel beds in the future.

The Riddle of Epicurus
(Earliest known statement of the Problem of Evil)

If God is willing to prevent evil, but is not able to
Then He is not omnipotent.

If He is able, but not willing
Then He is malevolent.

If He is both able and willing
Then whence cometh evil?

If He is neither able nor willing
Then why call Him God?

To My Conservative Brothers and Sisters,

I know you are dismayed and disheartened at the results of last week's election. You're worried that the country is heading toward a very bad place you don't want it to go. Your 12-year Republican Revolution has ended with so much yet to do, so many promises left unfulfilled. You are in a funk, and I understand.

Well, cheer up, my friends! Do not despair. I have good news for you. I, and the millions of others who are now in charge with our Democratic Congress, have a pledge we would like to make to you, a list of promises that we offer you because we value you as our fellow Americans. You deserve to know what we plan to do with our newfound power -- and, to be specific, what we will do to you and for you.

Thus, here is our Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives:

Dear Conservatives and Republicans,

I, and my fellow signatories, hereby make these promises to you:

1. We will always respect you for your conservative beliefs. We will never, ever, call you "unpatriotic" simply because you disagree with us. In fact, we encourage you to dissent and disagree with us.

2. We will let you marry whomever you want, even when some of us consider your behavior to be "different" or "immoral." Who you marry is none of our business. Love and be in love -- it's a wonderful gift.

3. We will not spend your grandchildren's money on our personal whims or to enrich our friends. It's your checkbook, too, and we will balance it for you.

4. When we soon bring our sons and daughters home from Iraq, we will bring your sons and daughters home, too. They deserve to live. We promise never to send your kids off to war based on either a mistake or a lie.

5. When we make America the last Western democracy to have universal health coverage, and all Americans are able to get help when they fall ill, we promise that you, too, will be able to see a doctor, regardless of your ability to pay. And when stem cell research delivers treatments and cures for diseases that affect you and your loved ones, we'll make sure those advances are available to you and your family, too.

6. Even though you have opposed environmental regulation, when we clean up our air and water, we, the Democratic majority, will let you, too, breathe the cleaner air and drink the purer water.

7. Should a mass murderer ever kill 3,000 people on our soil, we will devote every single resource to tracking him down and bringing him to justice. Immediately. We will protect you.

8. We will never stick our nose in your bedroom or your womb. What you do there as consenting adults is your business. We will continue to count your age from the moment you were born, not the moment you were conceived.

9. We will not take away your hunting guns. If you need an automatic weapon or a handgun to kill a bird or a deer, then you really aren't much of a hunter and you should, perhaps, pick up another sport. We will make our streets and schools as free as we can from these weapons and we will protect your children just as we would protect ours.

10. When we raise the minimum wage, we will pay you -- and your employees -- that new wage, too. When women are finally paid what men make, we will pay conservative women that wage, too.

11. We will respect your religious beliefs, even when you don't put those beliefs into practice. In fact, we will actively seek to promote your most radical religious beliefs ("Blessed are the poor," "Blessed are the peacemakers," "Love your enemies," "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God," and "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."). We will let people in other countries know that God doesn't just bless America, he blesses everyone. We will discourage religious intolerance and fanaticism -- starting with the fanaticism here at home, thus setting a good example for the rest of the world.

12. We will not tolerate politicians who are corrupt and who are bought and paid for by the rich. We will go after any elected leader who puts him or herself ahead of the people. And we promise you we will go after the corrupt politicians on our side FIRST. If we fail to do this, we need you to call us on it. Simply because we are in power does not give us the right to turn our heads the other way when our party goes astray. Please perform this important duty as the loyal opposition.

I promise all of the above to you because this is your country, too. You are every bit as American as we are. We are all in this together. We sink or swim as one. Thank you for your years of service to this country and for giving us the opportunity to see if we can make things a bit better for our 300 million fellow Americans -- and for the rest of the world.

Signed,

Michael Moore

P.S. Please feel free to pass this on.

President Bush was scheduled to worship at a small Methodist Church
outside Washington, D.C. as part of Karl Rove's campaign to reverse
Bush's rapidly deteriorating approval ratings. A week before the
visit, Rove called on the Methodist Bishop who was scheduled to preach
on the chosen Sunday. "As you know, Bishop," began Rove, "we've been
getting a lot of bad publicity among Methodists because of the
president's position on stem cell research and the like. We'd gladly
arrange for Jack Abramoff's friends to make a contribution of $100,000
to the church if during your sermon you would say that President Bush
is a saint."

The Bishop thought about it for a few minutes, and finally said, "This
parish is in rather desperate need of funds ... I'll agree to do it."

The following Sunday, Bush pompously showed up for the photo op,
looking especially smug even while attempting to appear pious.

After making a few announcements, the Bishop began his homily:
"George W. Bush is a petty, vindictive, sanctimonious hypocrite and a
nitwit. He is a liar, a cheat, and a low-intelligence weasel with the
world's largest chip on his shoulder. He used every dirty election
trick in the book and still lost, but his toadies in the Supreme Court
appointed him. He lied about his military record in which he used
special privilege to avoid combat, and then had the gall to dress up
and pose on an aircraft carrier before a banner stating "Mission
Accomplished." He invaded a sovereign country for oil and war
profiteering, turning Iraq into a training ground for terrorists who
would destroy our country. He continues to confuse the American people
by insisting on a nonexistent connection between the horrors of 9/11
and the reason he started his war in Iraq. He routinely appoints
incompetent and unqualified cronies to high-level federal government
positions and as a result, hundreds and hundreds of Americans died
tragically in New Orleans. He lets corporate polluters despoil God's
creation and doom our planet. He uses fear-mongering to justify
warrantless spying on American citizens, in clear violation of our
Constitution. He is so psychotic and megalomaniacal that he believes
that he was chosen by God. He is the worst example of a Methodist I
have ever personally known. But compared to Dick Cheney and Karl Rove
and the rest of the evil fascist bastards in this administration,
George W. Bush is a saint.

Dean with Blitzer:

BLITZER: Let's talk a little bit about Iraq. The president sought to reach out to some of his critics earlier in the week, bringing in some former secretaries of state, including Madeleine Albright, among others -- William Cohen, the former defense secretary during the Clinton administration.

Are you satisfied right now that the president's getting enough information from a variety of sources to better move forward as far as the situation in Iraq is concerned?

DEAN: Well, most of the reports that came out of that meeting, Wolf, were that the president engaged in a filibuster of his own in there. He talked at them for some time and then went in for a photo op and really didn't bother to ask most of them for their advice at all.

So, I think these photo op ideas that he's going to get advice and they're really nothing more than photo ops -- I think we're in a big pickle in Iraq.

The president, frankly -- I was disgusted when I read in the New York Times yesterday that 80 percent of the torso injuries and fatalities in the Marine Corps could have been prevented if the Pentagon, the secretary of defense and the president had supplied them with armor that they already had.

They requested that from the field; the Pentagon refused. You know, I, two years ago, thought Secretary Rumsfeld ought to resign. He ought to resign.

These people are not qualified. They haven't served themselves; they don't know what it takes. They ought to protect our troops. Our troops are doing a hell of a job and they deserve better leadership in Washington than what they're getting.

I was incensed when I saw that story, 80 percent of the torso- based wounds that led to fatalities in the Marine Corps -- surely our Marines are worth something more than that.

BLITZER: About a month ago, Senator Joe Lieberman, the former Democratic vice presidential nominee spoke out, urging his fellow Democrats, including yourself, to restrain themselves in criticizing the president's position on Iraq. Listen to what Lieberman said.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SEN. JOSEPH LIEBERMAN (D), CONNECTICUT: It's time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge that he will be the commander-in-chief for three more critical years, and that, in matters of war, we undermine presidential credibility at our nation's peril.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BLITZER: What do you think? Is that advice good advice from Senator Lieberman?

DEAN: No. This president has lacked credibility almost from the day he took office because of the way he took office.

He's not reached out to other people. He's shown he's willing to abuse his power. He's not consulted others. And he's not interested in consulting any others.

And I think, frankly, that Joe is absolutely wrong, that it is incumbent on every American who is patriotic and cares about their country to stand up for what's right and not go along with the president, who is leading us in a wrong direction.

We're going in the wrong direction, economically, at home; we're going in the wrong direction abroad.

...

BLITZER: Should Democrats who took money from Jack Abramoff, who has now pleaded guilty to bribery charges, among other charges, a Republican lobbyist in Washington, should the Democrat who took money from him give that money to charity or give it back?

DEAN: There are no Democrats who took money from Jack Abramoff, not one, not one single Democrat. Every person named in this scandal is a Republican. Every person under investigation is a Republican. Every person indicted is a Republican. This is a Republican finance scandal. There is no evidence that Jack Abramoff ever gave any Democrat any money. And we've looked through all of those FEC reports to make sure that's true.

BLITZER: But through various Abramoff-related organizations and outfits, a bunch of Democrats did take money that presumably originated with Jack Abramoff.

DEAN: That's not true either. There's no evidence for that either. There is no evidence...

BLITZER: What about Senator Byron Dorgan?

DEAN: Senator Byron Dorgan and some others took money from Indian tribes. They're not agents of Jack Abramoff. There's no evidence that I've seen that Jack Abramoff directed any contributions to Democrats. I know the Republican National Committee would like to get the Democrats involved in this. They're scared. They should be scared. They haven't told the truth. They have misled the American people. And now it appears they're stealing from Indian tribes. The Democrats are not involved in this.

BLITZER: Unfortunately Mr. Chairman, we got to leave it right there.

Howard Dean, the chairman of the Democratic Party, always speaking out bluntly, candidly.

The transcriptionist didn't bother to put in Blitzer's DEEP SIIIIIIGGHH before his last comment.
