Hmmm, 12, has now come and gone and I'm still just here doing school work zoning out to the mp3's. Still no link to the record, but, I think all the anticipation was just for the midnight hour. Now that it's past its not all that bad. I know it's probably not going to be here till I wake up tomorrow. Oh well, I got about 2 more hours in me, we'll see.

So, it is now 10:30pm here in beautiful (today) Orlando, FL EST and I'm as fidgety as I was when we [Mom and I] were in the turnstile line to get into the Magic Kingdom back when I was 8 or something and it was my first time. Yet I still have no idea when the DL link for this new Radiohead Album is going to get here. The confirmation email said I had to wait till this morning, unfortunately, the letter is sent out from someone on London time; that's 5 hours ahead of me. So what could that mean? I'll probably be up till around 2 or so, but who knows what time the link email will get here. I guess waiting only makes it sweeter but I have known about this album for some time now so it's a bit like knowing your 21st birthday is coming for a year, only, when it finally gets to the day, you're not sure of when you can actually start drinking.

I know, not a real good comparison, but I can see both sides of this download issue now as well. For Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief my friends and I had one hell of a great party, which we started off by going to Virgin Megastore around 11:30p or so, sifting through music we wanted to buy as well and chatting with other fans doing the same, usually trading good picks 'n such. Until, the sweet sound of the announcer came over the loudspeaker as he told all of us to hold back and let them set up the rack, of which many respectful radiohead fans did. Everyone grabbed their disk in jubilation and made for the register like they had just eaten some bad Mexican and it was the only bathroom within 200 miles. Not quite a run, but mostly that modified power walk of sorts. We'd all make our way back to our cars and everyone would pile into the 2 cars with the best systems. Since I was rocking a 9 speaker JVC system already perfectly set up for radiohead music at the time, my car took quite a beating both those nights. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those funny kids that gets crazy with the mods on his car. Hell, I haven't done anything to the outside of my current car, but, I'll be damned if I'm gonna listen to a crappy stock car stereo for my hour long drive to work. And, not outta control base either, (put on your pirate voice) tis clarity I be seekin. -lol ;-P I like base, but one 10" is truly all you need in most rock situations, unless you don't really care about your hearing, i suppose, but that's a whole different discussion.

Anyway, to make a long story short the night would carry on till about 6 or so when the sun came up and those were great times to remember, blah blah blah. This time around everyone just kinda said, well, we don't really know what's going to happen so we'll just call it off this time around. Don't get me wrong, the GNU price issue I think is an awesome step forward for all bands since this time it's a very popular and reputable band pimpin it. It's worked in the past since fans of the band will generally pay out of respect and thankfulness. This is their band and they want to see them continue on. It can also give someone who might not be able to afford the album a chance to hear it, i mean, DJ's usually can't buy everything they want to. I'm no DJ, but so I'm told by a few. It also gives you a fairly track-able number of records and DL's out there, with exception to the idiots that will still get it off of limewire and the like. But overall, I think it is definitely a move into the future of a successful new sales model for bands and their labels. Respect is something you can never have too much of, especially when it comes from your fans, ya know?

So in the end, would I rather be able to go to Virgin or Wal-Mart tonight and know I can get my hands on a copy at 12 midnight? Eh, I'll tell you at 12. ;-)
CPU & Motherboards...
AMD's QuadFX (4x4) sorely disappoints
James - December 1, 2006 11:23
Arstechnica accurately sum up AMD's QuadFX launch in this editorial. QuadFX is a desperate attempt to take the light away from Intel, and it did for about a week, now let's all go back to drooling over the QX6700 :)

Today, AMD officially launched their much-anticipated 4x4 enthusiast platform under the name QuadFX. The results of the rash of QuadFX reviews that just came out are uniformly disappointing; Intel's quad-core offering, the QX6800, outperforms AMD's much hotter, more power-hungry offering in almost every benchmark. Right now, QuadFX is a loser from a performance, power consumption, and bang/buck perspective, and there's pretty much no reason to even consider spending money on this boutique architecture right now.

A few of my fav Donald Rumsfeld exact quotes in a press confrence held April 17 06':

Rumsfeld had harsh words for what he called the "cowardly and small-minded opposition" to American involvement in the region.

Here is an idea, don't censor and classify shit from your own citizens so much and maybe we wouldn't be the opposition. Wow, that's is so cowardly and small minded of us; to question and seek answers as to the real reason we are over there, a reason we all already know but just want to finally hear from the horses mouth. Another favorite of mine was...

"We've accomplished a lot," Rumsfeld said. "But there's still so much to take from the people of this rich country (one min their in a civil war, the next their a rich country, wha?), and we're not going to pack up and leave just because they're doing so well on their own. We look forward to working very, very closely with Iraq, once there's a friendly government in place that we can do business with."

Added Rumsfeld: "We plan to be around for a long, long time."

... a long, long, longgggg time... Hey everyone, guess who has new a oil supply?!?! And, all it took was a couple of buildings and a few thousand people... Starting to belive that film the more I look into it. :-(
