I thought this was an interesting tourism site that shows the more colorful cultural and traditional aspects of Newfoundland and Labrador. If you're planning a trip there, I hope you'll visit this site.

This may move, but currently, there is a link to Wayne Pacelle's forum at the Washington National Cathedral. The video is well worth a watch, not only because of the topics discussed, but because it is a monumental step to have animal issues being highlighted in a religious venue. If the link moves, check the archives later.

ANIMAL PEOPLE CURRENT ISSUES

I probably should have given a thumbs up to Animal People's home page, and not this "Current Issue" page. But I hope it's clickable, and that it changes from time to time. This is a good news source for people who care about animals. They also offer a Watch Dog list of animal charities. I'm clicking "no" for adult content, however there may be times when the stories they cover are depressing for children. Even so, if children are old enough to read, they're old enough to know, and to care. So I think it's an OK site for kids, too.

I like this, because it is an endorsement by the Liturgical Commission of matters that are of importance to me -- animsls.
It includes a book review of Animal Rites by the Rev. Andrew Linzey, and mentions two groups that I'm involved with.

I gave this a Thumbs Up because I've never known anyone who won a contest like this before. It's cool to see him on the Internet. And I particularly like the finale video because it was filmed at my church, and I enjoyed picking out people in the video that I know. It's sort of being "at home" as I watch this.

This includes the video of the "Ethical Man Goes Vegan" video that I just reviewed. Again, it's from the BBC, and pertains to the UN's concern over world-wide food shortages. They are having an emergency summit right now on the topic.

The readers comments are interesting, too, even if I don't agree with all of them.

This is from the BBC, and is a video of "Ethical Man" who is a meat eater, but who decided to see how being a vegan for a month would impact his health and his carbon footprint. It is interesting to watch, and not the kind of thing I would ever expect to see from the media in the USA. I always appreciate whenever anyone, and especially a meat-eater (who doesn't have a "vegan agenda", and who others might be able to relate to more easily, if he's "one of them") can bring up the impact of animal agriculture on Climate Change. That doesn't happen often enough, even among most environmentalists I know in this country.

I want to go on record to say how proud I am of Bishop Andrus to not only endorse the California Humane Farming initiate, but to add how happy I am to see this posted on the diocesan website. I gave this page a "thumbs up" because anything the Church can do to represent the interests of the most abused, most exploited, and most invisible victims in our world matters a lot to me.
