One or two words and expressions which I dislike :-

Squadie
Cool - a totally misused word
'Some' weather - Is this a commodity ? - Usually spoken by radio announcers.
'Some' traffic - ditto
Fuel Poverty - Sounds too socialist
Poverty Wages - ditto
'know what I mean ?
'know what I'm sayin' ?
Freak out
Basically
Chill out
Tick all the boxes
As on the Tin

Americanisms :-

Babe
Baby
Lemme
Kinda
Kinda like
Gotta
Wanna
Huh ! This utterance is particularly nauseating
'em - Americans just cannot utter the object pronoun 'them'.
'im - ditto - 'him'.
spint - spent - Americans also cannot say 'spent'.
chill out
super patriotism
dunno
Stuff
Dude
Nighnie nine dahlars - (ninety-nine dollars)

The State Funeral of Margaret Thatcher.

Some thoughts on Margaret Thatcher.
After Winston Churchill, she was Britain's greatest prime minister.
Remember how Britain faired after WW II ? Remember how the trade unions ruled the roost ?
They were constantly on strike (even during WW II).
Remember "The Winter of Discontent" - 1979 ? - Hospitals picketed out of existannce - the dead not being able to be buried - the streets stinking in litter.
Remember how the trade union barons used to have beer and sandwiches at Number 10 and bargain policy making ?
Well good old Maggie fixed all of that, and every succeeding British govenment has let her anti-trade union legislation remain intact and unamended.

This little contribution does not mention her legistation which allowed ordinary people to purchase their council houses, nor does it talk about getting the state off the backs of nationalised industry.

Maggie Deserves A State Funeral.
