I always find it quite hilarious, when people get pissed off at me for making them think. They get so mad. It's funny.

My iGoogle home page carries current headlines from many trusted news sources - BBC, CBC, CNN, Time, NYT, Reuters, etc. Every day I face a litany of alarming words, such as I do today when I look at this page:

Strike, blasts, mourns, fraud, kills, hits, die, vexing, fight, cut, attack, arms, boom, weapons, restrictions, error, crime.

Contrast that to the "positive" words I see on my iGoogle headlines today: disband, outreach, rescue, progress. The so-called "positives" are built upon the conflicts too.

Remember that the negative seeds around the world are given birth in your mind, whenever you carry fear from these headlines out into your world, ignoring the people around you and tasting your anxieties.

This is NOT the same thing as "enlarging" the suffering of others by pondering it. "New age" philosophy tells you to ignore the pain of other people because if you think about it, you energize it. Ignore that teaching, because it is WRONG. When you think about people who are suffering, what you are enlarging is their potential for relief and betterment. Those who preach detachment from suffering people are causing a LOT of continuous damage, and they should shut the hell up.

I want to say something now about the farcical show which is "politics" and the sham procedure called "elections".

Just because somebody knows how to win an election and has the money to do it, does NOT mean that they know how to do anything else.

Young people might feel discouraged about how our elected "leaders" refuse to do anything worthwhile to improve the lives of citizens, refuse to do anything concrete to reduce carbon emissions, while handing out billions to pharmaceuticals and multinational chemical companies, for no good reason at all.

Why not just disregard the current leadership altogether, and just do your own thing? Design your own world, ignore the oldies who haven't a frigging clue. Don't let them discourage you from designing something which actually makes sense. This is YOUR world and you need to create it in the way that you want to.

I'm in a teaching mood this morning so I'll give you a little lesson on what originally went wrong, with this shitty economy of ours. (The movie "The Corporation" touches on this but here's the simplified version.)

It all started with the removal of ethics and personal responsibility from business. The "corporation" is a legal entity, which was created to remove the bad effects of a failed business, from the creator of that failed business.

Here's how it works. You want to create a new business, so you "incorporate". Incorporation means that if your business fails, your creditors - suppliers, services, even employees to whom you owe wages - won't be able to look to you personally for money. If your "corporation" is out of money, your own personal finances are protected. This way, you can act irresponsibly in the business world, you can act stupidly, and then you can get yourself out of it, leaving everybody else holding the bag!

Does this seem wrong to you? Yes? Well that's because it is. It is simply wrong to stick others with your own mistakes. And that's what current business laws allow people to do. If we fix that, if we marry personal responsibility to business (like, if you fail, it is YOU who takes the consequences) then a lot of problems with our economy will be solved.

ATTENTION: inaccurate stumbles alert.

I went into another browser just to see what people see, when they go to my pages. There's a button inviting "Stumble to see Chellaann's favorites".

I clicked on that button and was taken to several pages which, not only did I NEVER add them to my favourites, are completely stupid anyway.

If you try to see my pages through "tag cloud", you will be taken to pages that I have NEVER rated, have never seen before, and I cannot remove them from my tags. Seems I have definitely lost control of what SU says I am "thumbing up", at least in the "tag cloud" list.

For example, according to my "tag cloud" I once thumbed up a page with the tag "sex-industry". I never did that and I can't remove the webpage from my tag cloud. To see what I REALLY think of the so-called "sex industry", see my blog posting of October 4, 2009. It's not an "industry", that word gives it too much legitimization.

here's my personal recipe for my own version of "muesli" which is my favourite way to start a weekend day:

Ingedients for one serving (multiply as desired), or 2 servings if you don't eat much (unlike me):

1/3 kilo raw full fat milk yogurt (for fat, protein & calcium)
1/3 bar dark 72% cocoa chocolate (for yummies & energy)
dash of maple syrup (for sweetness)
2 Tbsp fresh ground flax seed (for fibre & EFAs)
1/2 fresh chopped mango (for vitamins & minerals & fibre)

- melt the chocolate and cool to room temperature
- slowly add yogurt stirring rapidly (so chocolate doesn't solidify too much but is incorporated, make sure yogurt not too cold)
- grind flax seeds in coffee grinder or blender & add
- chop fresh mango & add
- add a bit maple syrup, to taste

(if you are dieting you could leave out the chocolate)

aw, that was very mean of me to say that Americans debating sound like banjos.

So now I have to say something nice ... and true.

Maybe it's sad (I don't know), maybe it says something about me (I don't know what), but I would be .... kinda lost without my Daily Show/Colbert fix 4 days a week.

Jon Stewart and "Stephen Colbert" are da bomb. I love those guys. They make my day - every single time. I have probably borrowed pages from their books (or I should say, from their writers' books) with respect to my own sense of humour. Their take on stuff is always so .... right on. It's brilliant and always funny. (now I'm getting all verklempt here ... sniFFFF sniFFF)

It would be the thrill of a lifetime to meet them. Or, then again, maybe it would be a let-down to see them in the mere flesh, brought down from the demi-God status that regular T.V. coverage provides ... and besides the chances of that are NIL because I'm nobody (sniFFF sniFFF) compared to those guys.

Anyway - kudos. I LOVE you both!!!! :) (hearts)

To all promoters, entrepreneurs, and enterprising artists:

I want to save you some time and trouble. So here it is. These are my pages. My pages accord with my own personal taste. No, I will not "thumb you up" just because you asked me to. No, you may not use my SU pages to promote yourself or your client.

If you are having trouble moving/selling your stuff, then lack of promotion might not be the problem. The problem might be, that it's not up to snuff. Maybe your product isn't any good. Maybe your music sucks. I don't know why you are having trouble, but don't come to me for help. Why should I promote you for free? I have put a lot of personal effort and energy into assembling my blog and pages here. But sorry - no shortcuts off of my back.

If I come across something I really like, or think that is cool and/or helpful and/or valuable, then I will give it a "thumb's up". If I come across a news story which I think people need to know about, I'll give it a "thumb's up". Don't bother asking me for a free promo for your attempts to make money - because it just ain't gonna happen. Instead, take a good hard look at your product and try to find out what's wrong with it, rather than trying to get some free exposure from me.

(P.S. same goes for the cheap, online tabloid queen who keeps trying to get on to my pages ... name starts with "H", ends with "n" and has a word from the story "The Three Little Pigs")
