Just listened to Union boys complaining that the Royal Mail's Management are basically trying to manage decline.
Yes.
They are.
What else can they do?

Face it, the future is not paper in envelopes landing on the mat.
Right now I couldn't care less if I never received a hard copy bank statement ever again, ditto bills et al. I'd sure not miss all the junk that comes most days.

Recently I received a weighty tome, literally pounds of paper in the mail, on reflection a USB drive would have been easier - or a faster internet connection to make larger file transfers easier/faster.

What I do use the post for is receiving goods from on-line purchases.
Amazon is looking elsewhere now the Posties are on strike, this will be true for many other businesses.

Really this is the end. It's sad. but there it is.

It's understandable people disagree with each other, that's to be expected, what is not however acceptable, but rather downright rude, is to message someone and then block them without having the curtesy to say so, it is the internet equivalent of slamming the phone down on some one - it is rude and uncouth.
A gentlemen always informs the other person he is going to put down the receiver, after that point he can slam that phone down as hard as he chooses.
In this case it takes no time to say at the end of your rebuttal PS 'I am removing you as a friend and / or blocking you' it does however mean - as has just happened that I end up taking the time to reply to your assertions only to find my message lost in the system, well done you have your pyrrhic victory - you have wasted my time - while remaining comfortable in your continued ignorance.

1. Goes without saying, here, on this SU blog, that my top pic goes to Stumbleupon itself. Since I expect you are reading this because you are using SU I won't say anything more.

2. My second recommendation has to be Addblock Plus What I enjoy is that I forget about it, I browse in a largely add free internet, it's only when I use a browser not equipped with Addblock Plus I realise on all the intrusive and annoying adds I'm missing out on. Truthfully the only adds I remember online, or on TV fall into two categories, the few, very few good ones, and far more which annoy me enough to vow never ever to buy the product in question.

3. This is a new favourite. " AutoPager automatically loads the next page when you reach the end of the page. It works on a ton of sites, like Google" It doesn't sound much, but this is a really great time saving browsing enhancing add on - take a Google search result suddenly you can easily scroll through the pages of those results without clicking on 1,2,3, and so on. It also works on lots of sites, I'm now irritated when I find one that makes me click instead of scroll.

4. Image Zoom is a long standing favourite, without it I wouldn't have been able to easily 'stumbleupon photoblog it' lots of images.
I mainly use the function in the right click menu called custom dimensions. Ever tried to 'stumbleupon photoblog it' and been told the image was too big ie 'image too large (715 px maximum)' well with this function you can specify the size - the largest measurement ( height or width ) to 715 or smaller, and the picture is resized proportionally, now you can right click and 'stumbleupon photoblog it'

5. Linkification is another addon you addon and forget it's there, but at the same time is really useful because it converts text links into genuine, clickable links, just saving you the hassle of C+P'ing them to your browser address bar.

I'll possibly add more to these in due course.

"Weve got five years, stuck on my eyes
Five years, what a surprise
Weve got five years, my brain hurts a lot
Five years, thats all weve got"

yup, five years, well nearly, come July this year, since I joined the SU world; that also marks the time I switched to Firefox. but nostalgia aside today also marks the day my account was hacked, I think.

Any way changing my password alongside an email to the dev's well one or both worked because about 20 mins after the password change I could finally delete the alien post, and get my sticky post back.

So I'm going to take this as a left handed compliment, after all someone bothered to take the time to hack me, I can say this after the fact because I've got this account back...

Create a new stronger password today, if you haven't dear reader.

Over the last five years I've had good and bad times here, I've met some people, and like any random sample of folk, there has been the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Of course evil comes in many guises, some of them are beautiful.

The one quality I value the most, integrity. Doing what you say, keeping your promises - remaining true to your word.

Opinions. Those in "quotes" belong to other people. Same goes for facts. They are here because they are interesting. At least to me. Not always because I necessarily agree with them. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

Answers. I don't have all the answers. I like to think I have a lot of answers, answers that work for me, but they're probably not for you; like I said, they're mine.
Comment. If I have something to say - and on occasion I feel like saying something, so I do.
I'm good at... compliments, shopping, second guessing plots lines, eating apples in their entirety, reading books, writing, talking, being the centre of attention, and lifting heavy objects.

The first things people usually notice about me... I'm shaped like a triangle. Broad shoulders - narrow hips, jackets never fit me unless they are tailored. My penchant for hats, and fast cars.

On a typical Friday night... I don't have a typical Friday night, doing something dangerous I suppose, involving hats and fast cars probably

Continued: An idea for a Superman Begins...

Interestingly the Article Author posted a reference to this Superman book

Thanks Michael for the link - as it happens when the talk on the web began negatively contrasting batman - 'begins' with superman 'returns', - and the argument started about a reboot. I really felt that a "Superman begins" movie would be most interesting as a period piece,

beginning in 1938 with Superman coming to metropolis, with a short even and simple acknowledgment to the alien origin story - just as a background to the opening credits, as it was in the Action Comics first story.

Here Superman should be the less powerful early version, just leaping and not flying - at least at first, then powering up just as he did up to and including some WW2 action.
whilst operating more as a urban myth - against corruption and gangsters - again more like the comics of that era

but with the dawn of the nuclear age, following the defeat of hitler and truth of death camps, my imagined story ends with Superman wondering about his role and origin ( failing to prevent the Holocaust and the a-bomb is a more realistic personal crisis for a demi-god than the one singer gave us in 'returns' )

this would then see Superman leaving earth in search of who he is

(again the Siegal Shuster Superman didn't really know about Krypton - his relationship with Lois would have developed naturally as he learned of kyrptonite, which was to be called K-metal in see the unpublished "K-metal from Krypton" )

This adventure would be the second movie - a sci-fi spectacle introducing say Mongul and Daksied etc alien characters - these bad guys prevent Superman from getting home to earth, until he wins of course

third movie - Superman returns to earth - time has passed thanks to relativity and space travel and stuff. In so much that it's now the present day.
Superman of WW2 has been written out of history, so have aliens ala Roswell - this time the internet and media mean Superman is a world sensation. no longer a myth - although the myth of Superman has inspired other heroes (see I've written in the rest of the JLA just there) - but this time we've got a more Kingdom come/all star superman like character - older, (but not that you can see it) confident and incredibly powerful - assured of his role as defender of the earth against super beings and alien invaders.

So if you see a Post Message from me, it's just that. I'm not selling anything, buying anything; I'm just dipping my toe in the waters of SU.
I suppose it's a bit like fishing. I sit here, cast out a line of text to you dear reader, and the mystery is in this; will you bite?
'this little finger on the right?' maybe. maybe I'll quickly regret it.
maybe dialogue will equal "friendship", maybe respective SU ships will just pass in the night, randomly.
