Why Burning Diamond?

Because you can, although you may want to think twice about it before trying it...

Diamond will burn at 800 degrees Celsius, although it's probably the most expensive fuel on the planet.

Burning Diamond produces Carbon Dioxide; so one minute you've got a beautiful rock worth thousands of pounds, next you've contributed to global warming and increased your stupidity index substantially. Antoine Lavoisier first demonstrated in 1722 that diamond would burn, but once the point was proven, why should we ever need to repeat it? Interesting that it was a Frenchman that first decided to try burning a diamond; I wouldn't fancy his heating bill!

So if your house ever burns down and your magnificent diamond ring is left intact - you've been conned!
