The Later the Vote, the Better Off We Are, and the More Likely The Dems Will Kill Obamacare Themselves - AIP Blog - American Issues Project

From the page: "Public support for Obamacare is the real issue here, not because of principle but because of that Ol' Debbil Politics. If the Democrats firmly believed government-run health care is good for America, they could pass it in a week or two. They have enough raw political power to push through their preferred bills without any help from the Republican Party. The minority doesn't really have any tricks up its sleeve to stop that from happening and everyone knows it.

However, if they do pass it using nothing but raw political power, the bill belongs to them, and only to them and with the 2010 midterm election about a year away, they don't want that millstone hanging around just their necks. They needs a couple Republicans to come on board so they can claim bipartisan approval of their totalitarian monstrosity and inure themselves somewhat from the anger of the electorate.

That's why the longer Obamacare gets kicked around, the less likely it is we'll ever see it pass. "

From the page: "The numbers speak for themselves.

It's been seven months.

The budget deficit has quadrupled.

Over 2.7 million jobs have been lost.

The unemployment has risen from 7.6 percent in January to 9.8 percent today and we are told it isn't going to get better anytime soon.

And not a single cent of taxes have been cut. Except in North Dakota...the only state to grow jobs."

Here's a few more headlines. See if you can tell me which are from today and which are from the 1930s:

* Governor cuts his own pay by 10 percent
* City Employee's Salaries Cut Seven Percent
* New York Mayor Proposes Budget Cuts, Layoffs
* City Reduces Working Force to Meet Crisis
* Coroner Says Staff Will Be Working Without Pay
* City Employees Have Not Been Paid in Months

Tough to tell the difference, isn't it? The first, third and fifth headlines are from today, while the second, fourth and sixth are from the 1930s.
