Short Stories and Novels

Short stories are not something I'd choose to read instead of novels - I always have at least one of those on the go - but they are something I like to read alongside novels because the two narrative forms offer such different pleasures. When reading a novel I often want to become engrossed, to lose myself - in other words to indulge in a form of escapism - but when reading a short story, I want not so much to escape from life as to engage with it.

The Top 35 Environmental Blogs

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of blogs dedicated to the environment on the Internet. That's really no surprise given that environmental conservation is one of the most pressing issues of our time, and has become especially pertinent in recent years due to concerns about global warming and mega-hit documentaries like Former US Vice President Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth.

As part of our participation in Blog Action Day, we waded through much of the environmental blogosphere and picked out our favorites (caveat: not all of these are blogs in the strictest sense of the word, but those that aren't are generally still long-tail environmentally focused content sites). 44 Internet Marketing Articles That Everyone Should Read: Internet Marketers Group Writing Project

Last week I opened up an opportunity for everyone called The Internet Marketers United Group Writing Project. The project gave everyone a chance to gain some exposure and showcase their internet marketing knowledge. More and more moms say they do. In fact it may be the newest and biggest trend in mommydom: moms with blogs. Some blog about sports, homework help and discipline issues; some moms blog about going back to work or about the feeling they can't keep up with housework and chores.

Call them "mogs," "moggers" or "bloms" -- whatever you like -- one thing is certain: A slew of blogging mothers are finding that writing a daily or weekly dispatch online makes them feel better about it all....
