So yeah... I go far too long between blog updates when it comes to this account. I'm quite forgetful at times, and I can't seem to remember that I do have the ability to post actual blogs here in addition to my stumbles. Typical Pisces. There are enough people who seem to be interested in this page and my stumbles to make it worth trying to remember though, and I'm glad for that. Thanks so much to everyone who has visited me or written to me here. I appreciate it very much, especially since this is the type of site that I didn't expect too much actual interaction from. Shows what I know.

As far as what's new, I suppose the biggest thing would be that I finally got around to launching a personal website of my own not long ago, which some of you may have noticed. I've done pretty well just marketing my art, writing, and freelance services just through My Space, Deviant Art, and the like, but this was a step that was long, long overdue. Especially now that I'm devoting much more time to my creative writing than I have in previous years. Everything was getting too scattered. A website of his or her own is something I think every serious artist needs sooner or later though. If any of you would like to stop by and give mine a look, you can do so by visiting shannonhilson.com. There is a section devoted to art, another devoted to writing, and a blog as well -- one I actually update regularly... heh.

Other than that, it's been life as usual, but then that's hardly a bad thing. I've been keeping creative and very, very busy. I'm still painting and writing regularly and coming up with new ideas constantly. I wish there were 24 more hours in a day and that I had about 6 more arms and limitless energy... maybe even a clone or two. That would make life easier for sure! Even so, I don't do too badly for myself. Being a touch manic at time certainly helps. I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season so far! Best of luck and merriest of tidings for the new year to come as well, in case I don't make it back here to blog again before then.

So I guess I haven't posted a new blog (other than my little commentaries on the stuff I stumble) at this particular site since I first opened this account, so I figured that as long as I'm sitting in front of the computer listening to the David Bowie music I downloaded from iTunes last night and procrastinating about actually starting my day, I might as well write a few lines and let people know what's been going on with me. It hasn't been too exciting, but... you know... it's what I've been up to.

I guess probably the biggest thing lately is that my fiance and I have been making a conscious effort to lose a little weight and get healthier overall. We're not morbidly obese or anything, but both of us have watched our weights creep up a little at a time over the past couple of years or so and wanted to do something about it before it becomes a really insurmountable obstacle. So far we're doing really well. Even just making little changes in our lifestyles has us feeling much better and shedding pounds already... swapping regular soda for diet soda or water, cutting portions in half, substituting salads or fruit for some of the macaroni and cheese we ate so much of, making sure we exercise regularly... stuff like that.

It really is true what you hear on all those health sites and from your doctor, you know. You can't think of it as "a diet". It needs to be an attitude change in regards to food, exercise, and your lifestyle in general. To be honest, we feel so good these days, we don't want our old habits back. We don't want to go back to feeling drained, fat, and sick all the time. We realize that the reasons we felt that way had little to do with "just getting older" (as we told ourselves) and much more to do with our lifestyles. That's how I know we'll succeed this time. It's an attitude and lifestyle adjustment... not a diet.

Other than that, I really haven't been up to too much of interest... at least probably not of interest to people who aren't either really close acquaintances or stalkers (yes, I actually have stalkers... long story). Anyone reading this who is honestly interested in more of just my everyday thoughts is more than welcome to hop over to my public blog and read all about it though. I don't post a ton these days, but when I do, that's usually where it is. Hopefully I'll be doing some new art or something sometime soon, but anyone reading who is an artist themselves knows how any creative pursuit can be. Sometimes you're really gung ho about it, and then other times you're just not in the mood to bother and wonder how "worth it" it even is in the first place. I'm kind of feeling more like the latter right now, but give me a week. I'll probably be back to gung ho again. I'm nothing if not extreme in everything I do, think, and feel. In the meantime, if you do want to see some of my existing art, you can do so here. Buy some prints or a mug or something if you like what you see. That would certainly help encourage me to get back on track with some of that stuff.

So God only knows if I will actually write in this blog much, as I already have so many others, but I figured that since I'm new here, perhaps a word or two about myself? It seems like... somehow... through magical internet forces I do not quite understand, people are actually drifting through here. It would probably be nice for them if there was actually something to look at besides one photo, a vague introductory blurb copied and pasted from my My Space, and all two of the reviews I've actually written thus far.

My real name is Shannon, but I sometimes go by Cat. I'm a homemaker currently living in Connecticut with my fiance and my cat. I don't have kids, so I spend a lot of my time freelancing. I'm an artist, writer, poet, and musician. Yes, I know a lot of people say that, but I really am all those things... really... and I'm very good at them, even if I do say so myself. Music is kind of on the back burner for now, but I do work on my art and writing regularly and am slowly carving out a niche for myself, adding meaning to my life one painting at a time. Hopefully my work brings something to other people's lives as well. I hope so anyway.

Other random, seemingly unconnected things about me? I like to cook. I love snow, ice, rain, and thunder, but despise hot or overly sunny weather. I like to invent fancy new cocktails and give them equally fancy names. I like to read... especially the classics. One day I hope to have read all of the so-called "important" books. I'm a loner who has a dark sense of humor, strong opinions, and a rather large ego a lot of the time. I like to think I'm interesting. Some people seem to agree, so that's good for the aforementioned ego for certain.

And that's really about all I feel like saying right now. I just thought it would be nice if there were.... well.... something here. I hate virgin blogs. They always look so sad and unloved.
