Questions I wished I had thought about in the past. For this job? No. But previous jobs I went in more blind than expected and this list could have made a difference.
If nothing else, it makes you really think about your own immediate goals for the new position, your own questions/concerns, and makes you take ownership of your side of the interview.

What the heck?? I need to turn my cookies off, don't I? I 'stumbled' upon this site. And though I understand how it got this info, having this come up is a bit like someone taping on your screen saying "Hey! Here are our notes on your activities. Would you like more details?" No. And stop!

Missouri ranked 38th in the U.S. It seems almost everyone I know at work has stopped drinking, or taken up yoga, or started hitting the gym, or given up junk food, or... even the young programmers.
Mentality change? Not sure.
I recently wondered if it's like this elsewhere in the country. Maybe it's the unspoken concern if they lose their job, they lose their healthcare. Or maybe I'm making connections where there are none.

It seems the last four years have equated 20 years worth of experiences. Not all were bad. Some horrible but overall life changing and am amazed. Like crossing a continent and not realizing you've walked that far. Have you ever just taken a peek back and go 'Oh MY GOD! DID ALL THAT REALLY HAPPEN?' Because I have to tell you, if I were ever to tell anyone the full story, no one would believe me. But suspect the tidal wave has finally gone back out. Maybe.

On a less epic scale, this week was busy as hell. Crammed projects in between two full days of work training, doctor's appointment, throwing a guy friend a baby shower, taking a vacation day tomorrow (tent camping Fri-Sun with nites down to 30 degrees, I must be insane to do this for my astronomy fix), and in my second week of the new job (same company, but different flavor & group). Getting used to a completely different rhythm and mentality. Overall estatic with the change. People are so bright, engaging, and friendly. I really love the energy of this group and can just feel my mental muscles flexing as I was ready for this change.
But, as always, there are always adjustments - on both sides. Even if it's the reason (or one of the reasons) they brought you on, it may still be part of their ongoing adjustments. I'm remembering how to walk that fine line in giving them what they originally asked for without doing it full blown. It's been awhile. But this time it took less than two weeks to remember, so ahead of the curve.
I'm overly tired, up in 7 hours for the star party trip, and desperatly in need of sleep. Insomnia is a nastry demon. Night all.

A Stick Figure Guide to the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). It's long but worth it. It's amazing how comics are used these days. Even manga books on physics and other sciences are out there. Hey, if it's entertaining and helps you learn, I'm all for it!
