It seems the last four years have equated 20 years worth of experiences. Not all were bad. Some horrible but overall life changing and am amazed. Like crossing a continent and not realizing you've walked that far. Have you ever just taken a peek back and go 'Oh MY GOD! DID ALL THAT REALLY HAPPEN?' Because I have to tell you, if I were ever to tell anyone the full story, no one would believe me. But suspect the tidal wave has finally gone back out. Maybe.

On a less epic scale, this week was busy as hell. Crammed projects in between two full days of work training, doctor's appointment, throwing a guy friend a baby shower, taking a vacation day tomorrow (tent camping Fri-Sun with nites down to 30 degrees, I must be insane to do this for my astronomy fix), and in my second week of the new job (same company, but different flavor & group). Getting used to a completely different rhythm and mentality. Overall estatic with the change. People are so bright, engaging, and friendly. I really love the energy of this group and can just feel my mental muscles flexing as I was ready for this change.
But, as always, there are always adjustments - on both sides. Even if it's the reason (or one of the reasons) they brought you on, it may still be part of their ongoing adjustments. I'm remembering how to walk that fine line in giving them what they originally asked for without doing it full blown. It's been awhile. But this time it took less than two weeks to remember, so ahead of the curve.
I'm overly tired, up in 7 hours for the star party trip, and desperatly in need of sleep. Insomnia is a nastry demon. Night all.

I can't believe they shoved it down our throats. Usually they give you the option and slowly wean you into it. This? I log on and am like 'wtf?' There are bugs. It's still in beta, right? And a little warning would have been nice.

Life Happenings & Odd Ends:

Lately out Friday nights, hanging with friends. Something desperately needed for a while but no time until recently. Reappearing Quaff magician amazing but inebriation may be playing a role in our awe of his abilities. ;-)

Spring promises to be busy with tons of activities. In the process of cramming my calendar full, though it's more of a wish list as life tends to inconveniently re-arrange my schedule with little or no notice. Good intentions and all that - we'll see which ones fall to the wayside.

Some wishes: Severe Weather Seminar in Lawrence KS. AirFest down in Argonia KS through Kloudbusters. Though not sure I'll have time to build my rocket this year. The Killers concert in May with my girly peeps. The Astronomical Society of Kansas City will host their annual Messier Marathon at the end of March. Finally run my 10 inch Dobsonian through some serious paces! Linda Hall Library lectures. If nothing else, attend "How to see a Black Hole". Squeezing in lunchtime meditations when possible at the Rime Buddhist Center. Actually start going to some of the Meetups (hiking & photography).

Horrible migraines began grabbing my attention in the beginning of December, no longer could ignore the pain. Two weeks ago full brain & neck MRI. Headaches have a cause - severe cervical spine stenosis (severe narrowing of the spinal canal in the neck). Sounds terrible but isn't. Yes, the initial words freaked me out until I wrapped my head around what it all meant. And compared to the last few years, this is a slow pitch. I'll see the neurosurgeon this Monday.

Otherwise life is finally going better. Daughter in good spirits and doing great in school. She's trying to decide which college will best serve her NASA aspirations. This June is her fourth year in space camp, going to Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Next month she gets mobile (license & an old car) as well as her sweet 16 party (PG version of a rave, if you can believe that). Still much to do in regards to my mother, it will take another six months at least. I miss her dearly each day and the grief is an ever-changing animal. Work is calm and unusually normal-paced. Not used to working on a project without a flames licking my toes. Odd, cool, and interesting. Switching gears back to overdrive is going to be painful (the inevitable convinced will happen before the year is out).

Our team started the weekend a bit early yesterday, going to the Quaff for an early happy hour. Pics not great as they were taken with a cell phone. I think only two people from our team decided not to go.

Amber and Ann - Two members of the business side of the team.

Amber, the most fun person in our group. She is one of the coolest people I know.

Ann

Ben, Mike, and Nick. Them and I make up the technical side of our team.

Ben - He's like the baby brother I never had. My fav drinking buddy.

Neil and Amber - Neil is another member of the business side of our team. He has a degree in avaiation safety and is a pilot. He's on a rugby team, snowboards, everything. Never figured out how he ended up in the mutual fund world. But we love hearing the latest adventure during our Monday team meetings. The guy is hilarious.
