I see exceptions to the rule that are encouraging but in general I definitely worry for our dumb little brothers and sisters sometimes.

My advice to Gen Y: Put down Harry Potter and read some books that were written before you were born. Watch films that were considered great before fucking Batman was taken seriously as fine cinema. Listen to some of the music that you wear on those trendy throwback concert t-shirts. Buy a paper map and see if you can make it across country without Onstar. Learn to drive stick. Read a newspaper. Like a real one that gets your fingers inky.

Most importantly, don't vote. Rather, don't just vote. Learn about the issues, about your candidates and a little something about history and then vote. Mtv is full of shit on this one. That "just get out there and vote no matter what" campaign is horrible advice. If you don't know what the fuck is going on in the world, why should you vote? I sure as hell don't want you to.
