It is important to note, that the Ottoman Empire crumbling during WWI, was in war on 4 different fronts. It wouldn't make sense for an empire to exterminate its tax-payers especially after 700+ years of peaceful co-existence. When Armenians rebelled and massacred Turks beginning in the 1880s, the Ottoman government relocated suspected rebelling villages to Syria, and 80% of them survived. There were no deserts along this relocation path either, another propaganda theory. Why would the government pay so much money to feed, protect, and even take care of the Armenians with field-hospitals, and paying for their housing in Syria, if they intended to destroy the Armenians?
