meeeeeeee - Simply unbelievable story about the neglect and recovery of a young girl.
"In the first five years of life, 85 percent of the brain is developed," said Armstrong, the psychologist who examined Danielle. "Those early relationships, more than anything else, help wire the brain and provide children with the experience to trust, to develop language, to communicate. They need that system to relate to the world."

lovelikegravity - Wow. I don't even know what to say. This is just... wow. Very well-written (and long) article on the most... heartbreaking thing I have ever heard.
Dani's new parents are the most extraordinary selfless beings I have ever heard of. True heroes.
And her new brother - wow. What an amazing self-sacrificing child.

I hope thousands of people read this. And not just thousands of people who will shed a tear and say "aww" and keep going whining about not having the latest iPod and their Starbucks didn't have enough cream and whatever - I hope people actually THINK. I hope this story never leaves their side and they become even a small bit less selfish and more aware.

I hope to hear more of Dani's story in the future. I'd like to see how she fares in the coming years.

That Michelle needs to be in fucking prison. She needs to be put through the same thing that she put that beautiful little girl through.
