Sweetangelof1993 - I have been playing gaiaonline since 2006 and I can tell you the site is not safe. The items on there are iffy and some what sexual such as alruna rose. The chat rooms/forums are filled with topics talking about sex and drugs. The site will scam you from your money, you can purchase items with real money but in the end they'll ban your account. Gaia does state in the ToS, "You agree that Gaia, in its sole discretion and for any or no reason, may terminate any account (or any part thereof) you may have with Gaia or your use of Gaia Online". The site says they do their best to protect their users but that is a lie. I've been harassed many times on the site, and I'm talking about big harassment. I've had a girl spam my profile with pronographic images. And recently, a filipino college student by the name of nyyl_ran28 (Ranelyn Supan) and her mule accounts harassed me for a month and gaia did nothing. The harassment consisted of name calling, threats, sexual harassment, racist comments, and editting one of my drawings calling me "Evil Tuna Slut".
The links below are screenshots of what I went through with this girl:

After a month of going through that, gaia gets back to me. And what happens, the harasser gets a little slap on the hand while I get a warning for "abuse":

So I decided to make a petition thread against Unfair Bans and unfair moderating and what happens, the site bans both of my accounts for no reason:

This site is a pathetic excuse of a site. They don't care about their users anymore, they just want you money. They didn't take my harassment issues seriously. I strongly advise you NOT to let your kids join this site; they will become addicted and eventually they will get harassed by someone or banned.

Blaizekit - Gaia Online is a great site, though I agree that the only way to really enjoy it is to find your niche. Some forums will turn you off to it completely but once you find your place, your experience will be made of good. :3

Gaia is made of many different forums and this isn't like your average message board- each one has its own language and personality. Think of it as a big world with individual cities; and if you're "from out of town" so to speak, it's usually pretty obvious to the people that stay there. My suggestion is to find people that won't hold that against you and be generally jerkish.

Personally, I like to stay in the Charity/Quest forum. ;B

wolfpaws - I don't really participate in a lot of the activities, but all my friends love Gaia. It's a great alternative social networking site if you're bored of (or dislike) Myspace and Facebook. It's quite unique. The only problem I have with Gaia Online; is the poor conditions in which they treat their moderators.
