Nacmacfeagle - mor-ti-fied, adj. 1. The feeling of sheer terror that rages through your body when you're trying to discreetly empty your Diva cup in a public restroom, and it slips out of your hand, bounces along the floor, and rolls to a stop in the occupied stall two doors down at the feet of the occupier. 2. The desire to die a quick and painless death so you don't have to go and retrieve it.

casper9898 - I am a new Diva cup girl. I love it - I really love it! It's easy to insert and take out, it's very cost effective (I just bought mine from a store on Ebay for $17.00) and it isn't messy at all. I've seen other ladies comment about not leaking even during those heavy days, and it's true. I even wore white pants on one of my heaviest days. I am a teacher, and I will be introducing my students to this wonderful product when we discuss menstration and the options for protection. I wish I had heard about this years ago. If it weren't for my midwife neighbour, I'd never have known about such a fantastic product!

ruskintl - OK, I am all for finding an alternative to pads and tampons. Tampons really are bad for our bodies, and pads are uncomfortable and messy. There is also the paper waste to consider, and the expense of buying tampons every month really adds up. After visiting the site and reading everyone's rave reviews I decided to try the Diva Cup. My first impression upon opening the package was that this thing looked huge. It also was not as soft and pliable as I had imagined. When I "tried it on" I have to say that it honestly hurt. To put it bluntly, I cannot imagine how anyone who has not already had children could find it remotely comfortable. I have had one baby so I know it's not because I am too small. When I got my next period I decided to give it a try anyway. I had a very difficult time positioning it so that it did not leak. Even after I figured out how to pop it open I still had to wear a pad. When it was time to take it out, it was a little tricky to keep from making a mess. You can't empty it out in a public restroom because there is no way to wash it out. I also do not recommend it if you have very heavy periods. I was emptying the stupid thing out more often than I would have changed a super plus tampon. Overnight use for me was out of the question. I've also tried the disposable Instead cups and had the same problems with leaking. To anyone who can use the Diva Cup successfully: good for you! It's a nice idea, but not very practical for me. I hope we can come up with something better.
