atongchan -

This is a wonderfully interesting & detailed description of the rise and fall of some gamers in a Chinese game world - shades of The Matrix with the gaming company as absolute overseer and the corruption (!) seen by many players as those with real-world money would use it to buy power from the company in order to rise and slaughter others... the 'protest' quoted below is quite an interesting episode, well worth a read...

Gamers were furious. They stopped fighting monsters, refused quests, and the kingdom's rulers sat down in a rare peace and refused to request wars. The Royal Plaza at the center of the game map was thickly dotted with seated warriors, mages, archers, and summoners. These characters, usually bent on slaughter, used absolute peace to protest the insatiable greed of the system.
