AdECN, based in Santa Barbara, CA, is a hub for advertising networks for buying and selling display dvertising. This acquisition is part of Microsoft's larger plan to broaden advertising options and platforms for marketers and publishers for digital advertising. The deal will enable advertisers to have a broader scope of inventory in order to optimize targeted advertising, and publishers will be able to access more advertisers (and hopefully more money). AdECN essentially offers a neutral party for the exchange of advertisers and publishers, similar to a brokerage system or the stock exchange.
