3-way chess is not chess but a new game where three people play on two sides of three cubes locked the center with the classical chess pieces. Looks like it would be fun, and especially challenging if you were in the third player to get a turn's spot.

LizabethDesiree - I agree. The moronic back-and-forth of the comments was more amusing than the three way chessboard/chess game. It might be interesting giving the three-way chess game a try, but I can't imagine it being as challenging as chess. As for playing chess, but not quite playing chess: there is a chess game --- don't remember exactly how it goes -- which seems like it would be fun, where you use two boards simultaneously, with two teams of a total of four players (each team has one person playing as white and one person playing as black), and when one player captures a piece, it is given to the teammate, playing on the other chessboard, who can then place the piece anywhere on his/her board that he/she chooses. The first player to win, wins for his/her team. Two people can also play this game, using two chessboards, which is fun. Just googled it.... seems like it's called bughouse chess .

tedblu14 - From the page: "The game is great, but three people are needed."
I was all for it then I saw you need three people for three way chess

Adding another player to chess seems like it would make the game even longer, but also perhaps more interesting.
