The moronic back-and-forth of the comments was more amusing than the three way chessboard/chess game. It might be interesting giving the three-way chess game a try, but I can't imagine it being as challenging as chess. As for playing chess, but not quite playing chess: there is a chess game --- don't remember exactly how it goes -- which seems like it would be fun, where you use two boards simultaneously, with two teams of a total of four players (each team has one person playing as white and one person playing as black), and when one player captures a piece, it is given to the teammate, playing on the other chessboard, who can then place the piece anywhere on his/her board that he/she chooses. The first player to win, wins for his/her team. Two people can also play this game, using two chessboards, which is fun.
