konradc - From the page: "For anyone doing any kind of research, StumbleUpon is a dream come true, because the websites included in SU are hand-picked and filtered through many sets of eyes before they get to you. I've been able to find many, MANY incredibly rich research-oriented sites through StumbleUpon, faster and easier than using Google."

caterpillargrl - Good overview of why StumbleUpon is cool. Like one of the commenters on the site mentioned, I've been recently using StumbleUpon as a bookmarketing tool instead of using del.icio.us and as a research tool to find sites focused around my interests. It sure beats the "bookmark this page" feature in Firefox or IE.
