It was a strategic defeat
for the anti-Islamist coalition around the world, and it just doesn't
seem to interest the MSM much. The Washington Post piece this morning notes
that "Hamas does not recognize Israel's right to exist and is
classified as a terrorist organization by Israel, the United States and
the European Union,"
but fails to mention the Iranian connection, and seems to dismiss as
exaggeration the charges that Hamas massacred some of its captives. In a New York Times story about the Bush Administration's internal debates over Iran's nuclear program,
the story notes that "Iran is emerging as an increasing source of
trouble for the Bush administration by inflaming the insurgencies in
Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and in Gaza, where it has provided military
and financial support to the militant Islamic group Hamas, which now controls the Gaza Strip," but then fails to follow up on the significance of this week's coup.

It would be a service to readers and viewers if the MSM
began to treat the war with many fronts as just that, and to repeatedly
remind the audience that Iran's various pushes and policies are all
guided by the same men towards the same end of destroying Israel. The
other side of the radical Islamist coin --the al Qaeda/Salafist
extreme-- also aims to detsory Israel and to usher in the return of the
Caliphate.
